I stayed at Oakwood during a long holiday weekend, because of the location, price and the fact that parking was included. What I really enjoyed about the hotel is that it had an apartment-building feel. Everything was quiet, without the hustle and bustle of concierges, valets, and people milling about, which added a relaxed feel to the vacation. I walked through the adjacent Marriott lobby on several occasions during the trip, and the difference in noise and crowding was significant. The only downside is that there wasn't a person at the front desk all of the time, which resulted in a little bit of a wait for check-in and check out.

I stayed in a one-bedroom suite, which had a full kitchen (including dishwasher, dishes and utensils), a dining set, washing machine and dryer, and at least 3 generously sized closets, and a balcony. As a person who lives in Manhattan, I thought the space was quaint but efficiently laid out, and more than adequate for two people; other people might find the space to be a little small. The kitchen and bathroom were dated (early 90s - which likely factored into the price) but clean, and the hotel had a number of signs indicating that it was undergoing a renovation. The hallways were also quiet during the entire stay. The lobby, which was very contemporary, had ample spaces for meeting and socializing.

The hotel is located within very short walking distance of an indoor mall, pharmacy, and a number of local outdoor restaurants. The subway was also a stone's throw away. It offered everything I could have asked for in a home away from home. I would definitely stay at Oakwood Crystal City again.

Short time let apartment in Crystal City. Lovely clean accommodation. Building in the process or refurbishment so couldn't use the balcony and some common areas needing upgrades but the areas done while we were there were of a high standard.
Very convenient for shops, metro etc and would recommend it to others and would stay there again.

We stayed here for 4 nights to do the MCM marathon. The room was clean and functional - with a bedroom, lounge and kitchen. It also came contained a washing machine and dishwasher.

A few minor negative points - Renovations were being undertaken so we couldn't use the balcony - the bath plug didn't work - the road noise could be heard during the night and there was a charge of 20usd for using a credit card.

This is a small apt not a hotel so do not expect housekeeping during your stay. You are expected to empty your trash at the end of the stay or risk being charged $150.

Pros: Roomy suite with doors separating bedroom from living area, full size kitchen, washer and dryer, really convenient to underground mall that connects to subway and Marriott next door. Free parking in their garage. Equivalent in price to hotels nearby with half the space.

Cons: A/C was weak (during a heatwave in DC), half the electrical outlets did not work, TV in main area did not work, noisy facing freeway (you need earplugs to sleep), we had to provide our own toilet paper (because they don't have housekeeping)

Even with the inconveniences, we'd stay here again because of the location and big private rooms (but maybe not in summer because the A/C was so bad). We were here for 4 nights during the Marine Corps Marathon.

Room Tip: Get the suite facing away from the highway.

I rented this place for 5 nights September 2016 during our visit to DC. Oakwood Crystal City location is superb: passage to subway-through Marriott, under highway pass and through underground mall - there is some walking involved, but it is really great that there is no need to walk outside and cross streets; with great connection to DC - 2 subway lines, one goes to Congress and Smithonians, other to White house. That area has lots of restaurants and supermarkets-Costco and Whole Foods are just 2 blocks away if you like to cook. We (2 couples) rented 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment on 15th floor, it was newly renovated and with all new appliances. It was very important to us, being 2 couples, to have our own in suite bathrooms. Beds were really comfortable. Also there is washer/dryer in a small closet in apartment kitchen if you need to do laundry. Building has a free parking if there is space available, which is huge plus that close to DC. I have to say that renovated apartment looked a lot better than pictures on Oakwood Crystal City website. Check in and out went really quick and smooth, staff was really friendly and efficient: while we were staying lobby was going through renovation, but it didn't bother us a bit. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: Best rooms are on the higher floor or the other side of the highway.
