The Pentagon Memorial is a special place. So well done and incredibly moving. It was an honor to be able go and see it. It’s so important for everyone, young and old, to remember what happened and remember those that were lost.

This was a extremely well done. Each bench represents an individual that died during the attack...both on the plane and in the Pentagon. The benches are arranged by birth year and are positioned either towards the Pentagon or towards where the plane was coming from based on where the individual was. Each bench has a reflection pool beneath it. Family members that were on the plane together had their names together on the individual benches as well. Overall very moving and a great moment with my children to talk about 9/11 as it was before they were born.

This is perhaps one of the most moving memorials I have every visited. The symbolism of each victims mini memorial is amazing. This should be number 1 on the list of things to see in Washington. Amazing place. I felt honoured to be able to pay my respects.

For those old enough to remember 911, this was a must-see. It’s a very somber place with many reminders of the lives lost. Be sure to pick up the info page before you walk in so you know what each thing means.

As understanding the simplicity and importance to those who lost their lives on that day, this particular sight in my opinion was the least exciting unless I missed something that gives the overall educational experience to this sight in comparison to the NYC and PA sights. In overall the sight is beautiful and definitely a quiet place for reflection. The direction of the memorial plaques are in alignment to the direction of the crash. If it was not for someone native to the area explaining things I myself would not have known the meaning of the dates on along the sides of the wall. So of course this was just a stop off along our way home on a Sunday afternoon, but do some research to see if there is something more to this sight via Pentagon to gain the overall experience here.
