This is a lovely hotel in a pleasant area, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Although we had a slightly reduced rate for a conference / meeting, it was still an expensive stay - especially considering that breakfast was not included in the room price. The room was fine and the bathroom pretty good, although both felt slightly dated compared to the contemporary and striking lobby area. The catering at the meeting was very good, so I have given a generous overall 4 rating based on the location and food.
Slight grumbles would be that the bottle of water in the room was priced at $5 - which was a bit steep since a similar bottle cost $1 at the pharmacy over the road, and there were no tea / coffee making facilities in the room either - although plenty of coffee places close by.
The other slightly negative thing is that we were told when booking that there was a shuttle every half hour from Ronald Reagan airport but we waited and waited and no shuttle showed up. In the end, we rang the hotel and they said they would send the shuttle but it then took well over an hour to arrive, and we had a to call a couple more times, so we probably would have been better just getting a taxi.
It is very well placed in Alexandria with lots of shops / boat trips etc within easy walking distance but overall it would have to be less expensive for me to consider staying there again.

Room Tip: Avoid low floor rooms facing onto the street unless you want to be woken up by traffic or other peop...

Just a footnote to my previous report. We were charged $38 for overnight parking. I changed my previous rating as I think this was over the top. Still great property but very pricey. Dog friendly but not what it used to be.

The Alexandrian is a fine posh boutique hotel. The LOCATION is everything, it is in a perfect spot on King St where you are in the middle of everything. The hotel and rooms are clean and well designed. The lobby is small but really nice. Coffee in the lobby every morning with newspaper. We enjoyed the bar and restaurant, when it was open. Our only negative is that on 2 occasions when we wanted a cocktail or breakfast the restaurant was closed due to a function. They need to rectify this situation. Will stay here again.

My husband was in the DC area on business and I was along for fun. He booked a stay at this property because he wanted me to have access to the Metro as well as be in an area with lots to do. This property did not disappoint. The hotel was a class act. Room and bed were comfortable and staff was friendly and accommodating. I could walk to the Metro, restaurants, shops, waterfront, parks, etc. There wasn't a concierge lounge, as we are accustomed to in other Marriott properties, however they did serve complimentary coffee in the lobby every morning and provided a voucher for a continental breakfast at the adjoining restaurant each morning of our stay. We did ask for a coffee maker in our room, as my guy likes to wake early and have coffee and they provided a single cup Keurig which was very nice. Housekeeping could have been a bit more attentive. We would stay here again and we would recommend this property to friends and colleagues.

My husband and I stayed here for his birthday in March 2017. The Hotel staff was very helpful. Parking is a bit tricky, you have to fight traffic to pull up to the front of the building. Valet service is mandatory and they promptly come get your car. Don't forget anything though, because if you do, if will be a bit before they have retrieved your car for you to get what you need.
The room was lovely. The bed and pillows were AMAZING. I wanted to bring the whole bed home. Everything was clean and comfortable. The location is right in the heart of downtown so you are close to everything. The tram stop is right out front. It is a fast and free way to get your bearings. Lots of shopping and great restaurants in the area and a nice farmers market Saturday mornings adjacent to the hotel.
We are planning to stay again the next time we come to town.
