My husband and I had a very tasty 3 course meal here for Alex. Restaurant Week. The food was quite nice. Only thing we did not enjoy were the chairs. We are in the back dining room where the bar is. The chairs were leather club chairs that were nearly impossible to pull up to the table and the arms were very close in ( solid all the way down the side) so no room for your arms to move around except on top of the chair (hard to describe). The tables for 2 were also very close to each other so little privacy for conversation. Arugula salad with smoked strawberries was nicely dressed and my husband's fr onion soup was tasty and well assembled. My entree of spiced salmon was just right, and served over farro that was fork tender. My husband's filet was served sliced (tasty but not exceptionally tender) with watercress salad and house chips made from fingerlings. We both truly enjoyed the chevre cheesecake, and esp the rosemary meringues as garnish--a really neat flavored palate cleanser! So, find a better table and enjoy the food. Tremendous for $35 ea, and attentive server (Jude).

Everything was good and some of the courses were frankly fantastic. 5 courses (3 as part of restaurant week and two as a bonus). Started with the pork belly terrine. Rich, fat melting perfectly over a crispy bread. Didn't feel greasy. Second, a smoked duck carpaccio. May have been the best thing I've eaten in a year. So complex and yet the duck isn't covered up and shined. Next was the filet with salad and fingerling potato chips. Well cooked, the reduction was slightly salty, but not enough to blow your palette. A generous portion and the potatoes were pretty special, very light and crispy. Followed with a cheese course which was excellent. Last was the dessert course, chocolate, creamy and wonderful. Definitely worth the caloric intake. I'd put that meal up against anything in town. With restaurant week pricing we were under $100 including tip. Definitely worth a trip!

Four friends had dinner here during Alexandria’s Restaurant week and the Grill’s special 3-course menu has got to be one of the best values in town. Its onion soup is one of the best anywhere, enhanced with marrow. The pork belly tartine was a unique and very tasty starter. The salmon was simply and perfectly prepared as was the bistrot filet. And the desserts—goat cheese cheesecake and dark chocolate enrobed mousse—were a perfect finish. Service was superb—helpful, friendly, knowledgeable. We might not have gone here had it not been restaurant week, but based on this, we’ll certainly be back.
