An Austin legend, birthplace of Legends Golf and the Senior Tour. Great clubhouse bar, attentive staff service.

Played onion creek today and was very happy with everything at course. My wife and I just played 4 Texas courses Tradition G C, Eagle Bluff, Pine Dunes and Onion. Onion doesn't have to take a back seat to any of the other 3. We really enjoyed all of them but I would rate Onion excellent, some of the best greens we played. Really a fun course we played as a 2 ball in back of 5 ball but still finished in 4 hrs. or a little less. The course does take a little to get use to the layout as far as what the designers have in mind shot 42 front and 36 back we definitely will be back.

Played here just after Austin had some historic rains but the North course was mostly in good shape. There were 2 closed holes, the 16th because the cart path bridge by the green was 2 feet under a raging torrent, WOW. Would recommend.

Perhaps, recent Central Texas rain and flooding took its toll on this golf course as course conditions were terrible on this sunny Texas afternoon. Apparently, the aging course is ill equipped to deal with flooding of Onion Creek which meanders thru the course. We were playing at a corporate event (scramble) aside from the fact that hole 16 was closed there was standing water everywhere, greens in poor condition we were rerouted everywhere-the layout is 27 holes of confusion with poor signage which you could not tell which hole you were on, cart paths were a mess. No Fun. Our corporate group of about 60 or so golfers were able to complete only about 15 or so holes because of the course conditions. It was perfect weather conditions on this day and we had played nearby Wolfdancer GC 2 days earlier no rainy days in between. See my separate review of Wolfdancer GC.

Onion Creek is a sub par course-not a way to enjoy an afternoon on golf even if the course was not flooded. Definitely not a destination Golf Course-may be fine for locals who know the layout of the course, but comes up short as course I would want to play when visiting this area.
