Owner description: If it's in Texas, it must be bigger and better. That is the motto that architects followed with the Capitol Building in Austin. At one time, it was the tallest capitol building in the nation. Others might be taller now, but this is still a beautiful building that shows off many of the natural resources which are so prevalent in Texas, such as limestone and the landscapes.

By all means visit the State Capitol in Austin! The inside is gorgeous and the outside sculptures are beautiful!

It is more architecturally beautiful than most buildings in the United States. The tour yourself brochure explains everything of interest.
The rotunda is amazing and grounds around definitely worth exploring !

Impressive building and grounds, even to a non-Texan. Informative, well paced 45 min tour gives a good insight into the history and operation of the legislature.

The Texas Capitol building was huge. The grounds were expansive and filled with various statues mostly along the main road leading up to the Capitol.

We came here around 8PM and found out that the inside was open until 10PM (8pm on the weekends). There was no guided tours (ended at 5pm) but we just grabbed a map and wandered around on our own. Just like the outside the inside was similarly large in scale. We went all the way up to the 4th floor and explored each floor on the way. Unfortunately all rooms were closed so we could not see the Governor’s Reception Room, Senate or House of Representatives. It will be good to come back when the public tours are available.
