“Nagi Beach Hotel and Resort 3.5”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 October 2011

Spent one week in Nagi beach hotel at the end of September.

Firstly, need to emphasise how good the pool, bar and beach staff are - never too intrusive but friendly and delivered great service consistently. I found myself going to the pool bar for a drink after dinner most nights as you could guarantee a good and friendly service. Pool area was nice and clean with plenty of sunbeds and the pool was a good size. Beach area also had plenty of sun loungers available but you are expected to buy drinks from the bar for the use of these. Unfortunately, there is not much space to put down a towel so using the sunbeds is almost obligatory - however it was only 2 lire for a bottle of water so you are not paying over the odds. The hotel is also right on the beach front literally 2 yards form the end of the bar area is the beach! Drinks from the bar area were approx 6 lire a beer and 12 lire cocktails.

Guhmbet itself is lively and filled with lots of bars, and a few restaurants. The bars and bar street are typically loud and full of drunken revellers - so not ideal for couples but if your up for a laugh then head that way. Divers restaurant is located just off bar street in a quiet secluded spot coupled with great food. Definitely worth a try.

The bars along the beach front also offer a quieter option (although we went towards the end of the season) for drinks. The Soho bar was especially nice - although watch out some do but 'entertainment' on. Always worth avoiding!

Near-by Bodrum is easily accessible via the Dolmus, minibus shuttle service. This service is very cheap at 2.75 one way - thats about £1. They are easy to use once you get the hang of it - Simply hail like a taxi and get on and take a seat. We learnt it is better to pay once you get on, at the start of your journey - just approach the driver and hand over your money (usually whilst they are driving), I always liked to provide exact change where possible. Be aware they can be busy and I had to stand a few times, the journey to bodrum was only 10 minutes max so it wasn't too uncomfortable. The dolmus takes you right into bodrum centre and you can work down the high-street to the harbour and shopping area, only a 3 minute walk.

Bodrum has some nice places to eat on the harbour the Marina Yacht Club Restaurant was really lovely and not to much more expensive plus gave great views over the marina. Had one poor experience with a family run restaurant of which the name escapes me - poor food and poor service. Beach bars on the other side of the shopping centre are a great place to relax and have a drink.

The rooms in Nagi beach were a bit shabby and outdated but for the price did the job and were cleaned daily. Balcony a bit dissapointing, but everything else was great.

Worth a visit for young couples on a budget or young groups. Rooms let it down slightly so more 3.5 than a 3!

Just returned from a two week break to Nagi Beach Hotel. We had a great time, although the rooms were very noisy as the hotel is situated at the end of bar street. We took ear plugs, and found that the noise of the air con, which is £2 a day, drowned out most of the noise. The rooms are basic, and a bit dated, but it is a holiday, not your front room. They were cleaned daily, and ok for the money paid. The staff at the hotel were great, really helpful, and very friendly. The location is the main attraction for this hotel, as it is right on the beach, and the sunbeds are free if you buy drinks from the bar. At night they put tables on the beach, and the food from the restuarant was delicious. Breakfast was good, with omelettes or fried eggs available too.
My advise regarding the boat trip is do not book through Einstein if you want a relaxing boat trip. Our friends went, and they were like sardines in a tin, and loud music played constantly with people getting up to dance in the limited space. We paid a little more through Exen Tours, situated near Tempo restaurant and they guarantee no more than 26 people, and it was wonderful.
Best Restaurants in Gumbet - Windy Bay, Kebab House - on the beach, and Divers.

A really good cheap and cheerful holiday all in all, although if you want a quiet hotel, this is not the place for you. We really enjoyed our holiday.

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor pool view to get as far away from bar street as possible.

Just got back from Nagi Beach and a good time was had by all. the beds are..a little lacking in comfort - but being a group of young lads, we were dead to the world most nights.

the location is excellent is you're going to be spending your time by the bars. It's literally on bar street - probably not ideal if you want a quiet holiday.

gumbet is a lively place where the bars are plentiful and the music loud, of course its perfect for young groups looking for fun but if you're looking for peace and quiet..probably best looking at other resorts in turkey.

the only real negative for me personally, was the shopkeepers, bar staff and restauranteurs literally harrassing you for custom, they'll try anything to get you in their establishment. For some of them, a simple 'no thanks' is adequate, for others..it's best to just keep walking and not let them stop you, because if they get you to stop, they'll lay their best schtick on you..and they don't take no for an answer.

anyway, the hotel room was basic, but we didn't spend barely any time in the room. bathroom facilities were certainly adequate and the maid came every day when we were there...half the time we told her we were okay for housekeeping anyway.

the bar staff at the poolside bar are really friendly and most of them are up for a good laugh, making us all feel very welcome and always said hi.

the reception staff were very abrupt..and rude - we were given anything but a warm welcome - which worried us all greatly, but once we met the other staff - we realised it was just one or two on reception who weren't making the effort.

the pool isn't massive but it was certainly good enough for us to mess around in and there was loads of sunbeds. another thing - this hotel is not only on bar street but once you go down to the pool area, you're pretty much on the beach.

most bars will try give you free shots etc, obviously, most of these free drinks are just fruit juice and you rarely ever get given what they promise -so i suppose thats a negative..

the gumbet nightlife is very fun though, and after a few drinks you'll be in the swing of it.
we spent a lot of time at molly malones irish bar on bar street - the staff are really friendly as is the owner maggie.

other places to check out are 'sunflower' restaurant - the food we had there was the best we had all week...also try ali babas fun pub next door to sunflower --doesn't sound much but it was also very nice.

starting to go on a bit now..basically...if you are a young group looking for fun clubs and a place to crash with a half decent pool area - i'd recommend this hotel in an instant.

if you're after relaxing and sight seeing - gumbet isn't the resort for you.

hope this helps

Room Tip: ask for poolside - not many rooms have views but these are apparently the best choice.

the rooms are quite basic but you dont go on holiday to be in your room , we had a sea view and backed onto bar street but the noise wasent that bad been to a hotel in gumbet in a quieter area that played music at its own bar till 6 am .the location is fantastic all the beach bars and restaurants all around you the lovely pool right on the beach the staff waiting on you for drinks and are realy friendly and nice . the bar right on the beach was lovely in the early evening as a meeting up place people watching and havng a chat and a cocktail or two .many diferent nights out to be had staying on the beach front for restaurants ,hotel shows ,karaoke or heading to the town to music bars where the staff have you up dancing conga etc or for the young and wild bar street boom boom boom all the disco bars you will need can not be beaten . daytime lots to do also daytime foam partys, boat trips, jeep safari ,waterpark, markets ,turkish baths, watersports ,wandering down the beach front lots of shaded areas take your pick. we love gumbet been twice now and will return to the nagi beach again x a holiday is what you make of it you will enjoy its all there x
