How many hotels have you stayed in which have a hammam fit for a sultan, tropical gardens inhabited by Macaw parrots (one of whom is called Sultan), a chess set the size of a tennis court, a masseur who can relieve pain and restore agility in an hour?
It wasn’t the best of times for Bodrum when we pitched up here one morning in early September, asking if we might spend the day by their pool during a port of call while on a Mediterranean cruise. But we could not have been made more welcome by the staff. As we did not stay overnight, I cannot speak for the rooms, but we found the pool and the garden an enchanting place to relax during the day and I could happily have stayed for a week.
Rooms at the Princess start at around €60 a night. Given the migrant crisis that has been overwhelming Mediterranean beach resorts, Karia Princess’s distance from Bodrum port should give it an advantage over its competitors. This hotel is a gentle place and I can’t think you would not leave it feeling better than you did when you arrived. After only one day, we certainly did.More
