Technically non-muslims must ask for permission before entering the mosque. However, if you are dressed properly (for women including a scarf) most likely you will be invited to come in. That's what happened to us. I was dressed in a long skirt and long sleeves (to avoid the sun) and I had a loose shawl with me. I simply wrapped the shawl on my head and was good to go in.

The mosque was there for really long time. It is a traditionally-built building with no nails used. Great if u love some historic and traditional architecture and engineering.

A 350 y/o Mosque made of corals.. with tombs around made also of choral stones... if the coral tomb is pointed the deceased is Male, and if its curved, its Female. A must must visit!

There's a big story about this place, if you read the info or have a good guide. In my group we don't have the latter. So I don't know the story about the tombs, wells or anything. Read the info guys.
It was a historical and spiritual building for the maldivians. It was actually quite small, so is the city. Good for some historical photo-ops and historical experience.
