A Unique Experience

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 6 Apr 2014
The Victory Exclusive Hotel is nestled in the lane way between Fahrenheit88 and Lot10 Malls. There's a massive sign to help you find the hotel once in the lane way but waysides from that it's a hideaway in a busy city.

By the time you're reading the review you'll have seen others on Tripadvisor where the location (hard to find) and most other facets are torn apart by guests. My own stay of 10 nights can affirm and refute some of these claims.

Yes the hotel can be hard to find - On their website all it would take is a simple diagram or map to help out - but I've just given you the tip.

The rooms - I'd say most don't have windows - My Royal Queen was small, windowless and yet functional and comfortable. Not having light intrusion and no outside noise could be considered a plus if you're treating the Hotel room as a crash-pad while travelling. That said the fridge was superb at chilling beer, the free WiFi flawless and fast and while I could have done with more hanging and organising space it was hardly an inconvenience.

My only real gripe - and cause for concern was that my room was "serviced" daily - well the bed was made on 9 days of the 10, however while every few days my toiletries would be replaced, it was very obvious towards the end of the ten nights that my bathroom was NOT cleaned, not once, I'm not a dirty person by any extent, but after 10 days it's not a case of "wow, I don't think the housekeeper put in much effort today" it's a case of "I'm sure thats the soap scum from the first night when I discovered one of the two drains in the bathroom doesn't drain properly and I flooded the entire bathroom floor by using the rain shower too long!". I ended up supplying my own toilet paper - I didn't ask why it hadn't been replaced - and instead bought myself a nice soft roll at the nearby supermarket.

The staff were friendly, happy to help and no matter what time of day or night greeted me with a smile.

Yes there are steps (and a low beam) to get into the lift, but I'd suggest that the convenience of having a lift to go up the remaining 3-4 floors outweighs the inconvenience of the steps.

Breakfast was a simple cooked to order affair and I cannot fault it.

In conclusion - stay here if a comfortable bed, in a functional and generally clean and well designed small room to sleep in is what you need. The location is superb and when coupled with the pricing I think that its easy to overlook some of the "character". This is a crash-pad to sleep and keep your gear while you do stuff out and about KL. When you come back the Wifi will put you in touch with those back home and the quality bed will help you rest.

Room Tip: Most rooms won't have windows - and those that foo may also have the large neon sign and A/C...

Location wise is great, five minutes to "Pavillion' at Bukit Bintang just beside Fahrenheit. Hotel is quite new, room is clean, water pressure in the bathroom is good and high, spacious room, free wi-fi. Only TV channel needs to improve as three channels only available in the room. Easy access to every where in KL, walking, by taxi is so easy from this hotel. Night life, dinning, shopping, from local to international cuisine are available outside hotel and with a minutes walking distance. Staff is polite and friendly too, but they need to know a hospitality industry. Staff shouting early morning with very loud voice likes somebody was fighting disturbing and woke me up, until I have to call reception to be silent as it was too early. AC in the room needs to be fixed as temperature is not cold enough. Overall, I was happy with this hotel and will be back again in the future. Thank you Victory Exclusive Boutique Hotel.

WORST STAY EVER, COCKROACHES EVERYWHERE, from small German Cockroaches to big Oriental Cockroaches, EVEN we did ROOM CHANGE, I THINK TOTAL I SAW 10 of them, for one night stay, it is really gross, disgusting, irritating any words you can relate! The room was totally different from the pictures I saw from the website. THE WORST PLACE TO STAY!
