Wanomiya offers sit down dining space inside the restaurant and also an outdoor option where you can eat at a few stands outside the restaurant, which is cheaper.
We went for the cheaper option and ordered Kobe beef red meat on rice which costs Yen 2000 per bowl. All 4 of us had the same order and we all agreed it was really good, even better than the Kobe beef we had in a much more expensive and upmarket restaurant in Kobe a few days earlier.
The beef was succulent and tender, cooked to medium/well. We just stood around the small standing table provided and finished up the beef rice in minutes. We had wanted to try the Kobe beef ramen as well but they were temporarily out of stock.
The next day, the 3 of us who went out shopping (son stayed behind in the room to do some work) went back to try the beef ramen for lunch. Each bowl cost Yen 1000. It was very good as well. The broth was thick and tasty, the noodles have a good texture and the sliced beef very succulent. Another good meal.
It was so good that all 4 of us were back for dinner that evening, ordering 4 bowls of Kobe beef on rice and a bowl of beef ramen. We lapped it all up.
Here's how it works. You basically queue up to order, pay and get a number, and wait for your food to be cooked right in front of you. When it is ready, your number will be called and you collect your food and enjoy it at the few standing tables provided. The staff are pretty helpful and friendly and can communicate in English.
Highly recommended if you like beef and are in the Dotonburi area in Osaka.
