So it’s not the CN Tower or the Burj , but the price was super reasonable and the views over Kyoto , on a clear day , really great . We went up about 30minutes before sunset , so that we could watch the sun go down . Beautiful to see ! Recommend travelling down to the panoramic bar afterwards for a sneaky sake .

If you are visiting Kyoto and want to experience night time views of the city it is hard to go past Kyoto Tower. Located across the street from the railway station it is easy to get to and well worth looking at.

With pnly a few hundred yen per person you cam enjoy kyoto from above. The thing that i like is everything is included like when you want to see using one of their telescope it's free. Most places like this you need to pay more for a few minutes. In kyoto tower, it's free. The tower itself is not as big, wide or fancy like Tokyo tower or a fraction of sky tree but looking at a beautiful city of kyoto is still worth every penny. The city is gorgeous and from above i can see the culture and modern side of the city. The landscape as well and oh those mountain, hills, they look so pretty. The souvernirs are not as pricy as other famous towers too. Below the tower there's mall and hotel. There's a kimono rental (need reservation during holidays) and food court with shops that sells local delicacy and sweets. The sweets here is super expensive. You've been warned. But i do buy some solid perfume with the scent of local flowers like sakura. It's a must for perfume lovers. The facility have lifts and elevator hence it is stroller and wheelchair friendly

There's always something going on there that they could have put in Shijo and had more success with. For example, they had a haunted house over the summer and it was the size of a small closet. The views are okay, but you can get almost the same view for free from Kyoto station or from the top of Takashimaya at Shijo for free.

Hideously ugly (imho) . . . but serves its purpose well as an overview of the city from up high, and as a landmark near the Kyoto Station from afar.
