“Favourite place in Kyoto”
Reviewed 2 March 2012

This temple was absolutely beautiful. It was up a hill so we got a beautiful view of Kyoto. There was a wonderful little shopping district on the hill when we left which was a great place for snacks and souvenir shopping. The temple was really neat to see and the view was outstanding.

“Too much Buddha; the street walk up to the temple is a must go”
Reviewed 20 February 2012

Honestly, there is not much there at the temple if you don't believe in Buddhism. There is one spot that is very pretty but is also the only spot which you probably already saw in any book or magazine that introduce this temple.

The street that leads up to the temple, on the other hand, is a must go location. There are tons of interesting local shops and restaurant along both sides of the street. If you only have 1 day in Higashiyama Ward, this is the street you must visit.

Huge installation with many impressive features. This temple deserves its spot at the top of the list of things to see in Kyoto.
