Really easy to overlook but worth a stop for a tea and a sweet (really sweet). Enjoyed it and will come back to that cosy place.

On the way to Kiyomizu temple( along walk up hill) we stopped by this old and typical tea shop for a red bean soup. The place is authentic and traditionally a family business. Small with wooden chair, cosy and warm in winter for refuge. This is not a 5* tourist tea house but the ambience friendly. Try the typicall bean cakes although this is more an asian delight.

The owner was well-mannered and lovely. If you like japanese traditional desserts it's worth a try! The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. The place looks like a step into the past! Good rest stop if you're around.

This is a sweet shop tucked in a small traditional hut. For those who would like to experience a traditional feel, this is the place to go. However, it is very cramp. I find the dessert is a bit sweet for me. Nevertheless, they are served with pickles.

The menu is very simple. I believe there are not more than 10 items.

If you are around this place, drop in and have a Jap dessert.

Tiny traditional tea house near the top of Ninen-zaka. It's easily missed as the facade is small and the sign is only in Japanese, but look immediately to the left for the display of traditional desserts along the stairs just after Ninen-zaka branches off from Sannen-zaka. This has been in business since 1914 and the interior is like a throwback in time. The desserts may not be the best out there, but the atmosphere is priceless.
