We stayed 4 days at the Granvia and found it to be excellent. It is clean and modern, and wonderfully located for travel in and out of the city. Everything is at your front door. Department store is adjacent and offers wonderful dining options. The lobby and top floor lounge and restaurants are wonderful. The rooms are spacious and QUIET despite the railway below. The staff were very helpful, and the concierge was attentive to respond to my various emails. My only disappointment was not having a room close to the elevator that I had requested.

Very clean, great food, awesome service and conveniently located within a 5 minutes walk from Kyoto station.Despite it's location you hardly here the noise from outside.

Room tip: Ask for a room facing the station and above the 6th floor for a great view of the city.

Excellent hotel overall - I would recommend the sky piano bar and restaurant. But I was disappointed by my room which looked out onto the roof of the station. Aim for 9-10 storey at least when booking - ask for a view!

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous. Modern and sleek. Rooms are fantastic and with the benefit of wi-fi. Housekeeping is top quality. Staff are very attentive. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Location is great if you are travelling. You do not hear the trains at all. there are four shopping centres on your door steps - each with a food hall - great for getting something to eat at reasonable prices. Only negative is that you have to pay to use the swimming pool but then this seems standard in Japan to pay to use hotel swimming pools. Would have liked this to be included in the price.

I tend to be overcritical about hotels. I care for details and I am too often disappointed. In addition, a hotel inside a railway station is generally what I don’t look for (Kyoto station belongs to an exceptional category of this type of places). However, Granvia hotel almost moved me from the very beginning. It starts with a great modern architecture and design and a warm lobby with perfect lighting. You sit in comfortable chairs for your check in and discuss the reservation and the room with a nice young lady who speaks good English (unusual in Japan). Room is large, western-style, with any possible amenities in the bathroom. In-room wi-fi. Air conditioning completely silent. Sun shades overlap to avoid blades of light. Great view of East Kyoto (not particularly attractive). Concierge woman extremely precise and kind spoke perfect English. She gave all possible information about an onsen in town, where to rent bikes, how to manage the visit to the Imperial palace. Service always impeccable despite tips are refused (yes…). A woman was dusting the metal sides of the escalator staying still on one stair and going up and down with a clot. Before leaving we bought at the café a small food box with two egg puddings in ceramic containers including spoons and a small sachet with ice (all for only about $10). It was finally put inside a well-designed paper bag with no hotel logo (true elegance). Check out at 12 and ready for the shinkansen to Tokyo (2 hours and 40 minutes away). Truly recommendable.

Room tip: room with a city view
