By a twist of fate we stayed here for two nights and had a wonderful time. The building is nearly new and the marble entrance hall is stunning. Clean comfortable luxurious room with good breakfast and lunch. Staff greeted the guests in the corridors instead of looking away and kept the whole place sparkling. Wish I could have stayed longer.

The hotel is currently undergoing extensive refurbishment works and the areas currently in use for the reception and restaurant are not good enough for a 4/5 star hotel. The breakfast buffet is awful unless you like watered down orange juice as one example. The pools are not available and the main part of the hotel - rooms overlooking the beautiful lake and the lobby that looks so impressive on the web site are not in use.

The hotel reads luxurious from the moment you step in, with the huge lobby to the all marble floors and columns, the staff were very helpful although they struggled to communicate in English, but they will do there best to try and understand and delivery, even if they have to bring someone from another department to translate.

Having stayed in other hotels in Guilin this is by far the best and reading some of the reviews can't understand many of the comments, I guess it's all personal opinion and at the end of the day! My stay was comfortable and enjoyable having a good sized room helped! The decor is way over the top but it adds to the experience, a few candelabras and Liberace would feel at home! Marble floors, gold taps and roll top baths in your bedroom is a little excessive for a business trip but the price per night was very reasonable, just be careful of the varying rates! The western breakfast is ok but not a great choice! Plenty of pastries etc but there was a lack of fruit and the eggs were a bit disappointing. The Japanese restaurant within the hotel had very good food, fresh and nicely presented! There is a smell of cigarette smoke in some areas but not as pronounced as in some other Chinese hotels. Overall I would rate this hotels as one of the better ones outside the main areas of Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong and will return on my next trip!

When I booked I never expected to sleep in a hotel so opulent and sumptuous. Reception worthy of a hotel in the UAE, huge and full of detail. The only down fall though the smell of smoke that rises from the carpet, from the sheets and pillows. Breakfast room large with a fair choice international.
