This church stands on the site where the last Czar, his family and several of their servants were murdered in July 1918.

Yekaterinburg is bounded to Romanov's destiny and the church is build fairly new in honor of the family executed in the house at the same place in 1918. Everything inside is exclusively in Russian and a tour guide is needed for people with more interest in religion and Romanov's history.

The church is elaborate like any Orthodox Church, but not remarkable. What is interesting is to see the revision of history from revolution to canonization and idolization of the last Romanovs who, while they may not have been intentionally evil also did not do anything to deserve sainthood. As we were there in the winter, the family of the last Tsar were depicted not only in paintings and billboards but even as ice sculptures!

I enjoyed my visit here and on reflecting on the events which occured on the site.

My local friend and the lady on the icon table on the left (not souvenirs) helped pick out an appropriate icon for me to bring home to my Russian teacher who is devout and who mentioned having an icon from this site is very special.

The family are immortalised in iconography. If you can read Russian, the museum on the left gives some interesting information. My favourite pictures were of the sisters and even Alexandra serving as nurses for wounded soldiers.

A must see and highlight of Yekaterinburg.

This site is definitely one of the most important places in Russian history and a must see for any Russian. It is the spot when Russian Empire’s Era ceased to exist. Magnificent church has something for everyone and is simply incredible
