Right on the pedestrian only Bauman street, and next door to the mall on Bauman.
Large hotel. Rooms relatively spacious for Europe other than the x25 (525, 625..) rooms.
Useful sitting areas in the main lobby and on every floor. Large gym.
Qualms :
Long wait time for the elevator
Gym not airconditioned
Tips:
If you need an extra bed in the room, ask them to bring the thick mattress

the location of this hotel is great. Very close to things in Kazan.

We were traveling with another couple and they had a nice little lounge to hang out after a long day.

The rooms with large and had windows that opened which is a nice surprise.

The breakfast buffet is great -- filled with a good variety of choices.

The location of the hotel is awesome. Almost all of the main sightseeing objects were reachable on feet within 30 minutes but the hotel itself is not what you'd expect from a modern 4* hotel. We stayed for 2 nights and our minibar remained empty for the whole stay. Additional bed was brought to the room for the child but I had to make the bed myself.

I have worked in Russia for almost 2 years now and stayed in business hotels in over 15 different towns and cities, but I've never experienced such a dysfunctional hotel in Russia before. When it comes to service, nothing works here. We were in Kazan on a work trip and stayed in 5 rooms. Among the many, many things that happened: two rooms were simply not cleaned on one day and we almost had to force the reception to convince the housekeeping to do it, the minibar in one room contained open water bottles refilled with what we suspect was tap water. The hotel did not change them for two days even though we reminded them several times. In another room water and other items in the minibar were simply never refilled. Every night we had to go down to the reception and ask for new water and wait for 15 min to get it. One colleague asked for an iron at 9.00 pm. Reminded the reception at 10.30. Iron arrived with a knock on the door past midnight when she was sleeping. Laundry was not picked up by housekeeping. When colleagues were checking out earlier the hotel did not know which expenses already had been covered (early check-in) and tried to charge them a second time. At check-in we had vouchers from our (established) travel agent but the mine transfer had not been registered. They would not let us check in an cleat the thing out with the agent (took two hours and the money was transferred) without paying a deposit for all rooms in cash after which we were given a hand written receipt for tens of thousands of rubles. In short: this hotel has a good location and large rooms but a non existent service level. You can stay here one night if you are just looking for a centrally located hotel. But don't stay here for more than one night and especially not if you want to iron, wash clothes, have your room cleaned, water refilled or any other basic hotel service.

The hotel has a very good location in the centre of the city. Breakfast was above average. My colleagues got rooms on higher floors which get really nice views of the city. The room was OK, though I did have a used towel still hanging from the previous guest. Overall a pretty decent hotel by Russian standards, though expected more because it's Kazan.
