No trip to St Petersburg would be complete without a visit to the Faberge Museum. Situated in a beautiful private palace, I suggest you get there early when it opens for the best experience. Apart from the wonderful collection of Imperial eggs there are interconnected rooms with beautifully lit cases full of exquisite objects to enjoy and sigh over.
The museum is great with the kids, as it has the right size for the children not to get too tired and it is interesting enough. The museum has a very good restaurant with great food quality that is not too expensive. During our visit, we came here twice.
A newly furbished museum. Must visit. very near to nevesky. Very nicely decorated and maintained. Entry fee applicable
If you want to see most of the only 12 faberge eggs in existent then this is the place to come.
You get a full history of faberge and other things made in the era.
It is worth hiring the tape to give you a background on the different rooms
& artefacts but don't bother with the guide . Not really needed.
You are required to wear covers on your feet.
You can take pictures but not aloud flash. Doesn't take that long either to go round.
I visited here recently and was impressed by the building, the exhibition and the artifacts. There is also a very good system of labeling and numbering, accompanied by a guidebook, to explain what everything is, so you could spend a long time at a relatively small exhibition. Very interesting indeed - but I was slightly disappointed that there weren't more Fabergé Eggs to look at...!
Just off Nevsky Prospect. You are given booties to wear and it is very quiet. There is an audio guide. Exquisite eggs. Other exhibits as well. A magnificent building.
