Here, I may say in the very center of St Petersburg, below the Nevsky Prospekt and near to the Fontanka Embankments, to the east from them, is located this mighty monument - statue to the great russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky. It is situated, more precisely, on the Vladimirskaya Ploshchad( Square) and in the Bolshaya Moskovskaya Ulitsa( Great Moscow Street).
The street and ploshchad themselves are very picturesque and here in this area, Dostoevsky set the action of his very popular novel "White Nights". Since the author spent most of his life in the city on Neva, he wrote many literary works, whose actions and characters were closely connected with St Petersburg, its landscape and climate.
The monument itself, is a powerful depiction of a writer, who is represented in unique and modern design as he sits with hands folded
on one leg, which is laid over the top of the other leg.
The stone postament and stone statue of Dostoevsky are so united in their thoughtful posture, that there is no need for any chair, in order not to take away from the aura of such great man.
Very beautiful and serious site of one monument within one very wonderful street as well.

Thank Oleg Y
