Description: The MariVanna is a cozy restaurant with a Soviet retro look. Black-and-white photos from the past, a samovar and shiny polished crystal glasses in a grandmother's cupboard. The caring Mari Vanna is doing her magic in the kitchen – putting a lot of soul into the culinary treats she makes, as if cooking for her own grandchildren. Even our forefathers knew that the best way to keep one’s spirits high is eating a bowl of aromatic, nourishing borscht with garlic and a shot of vodka. And if there are homemade sausages, jelly with horseradish and squash spread on the table too – now that’s a real feast! The kindest Uncle Misha meets the guests of the Mari Vanna restaurant. His striped naval vest, sweatpants and radiant smile are familiar to everyone: from those who come here for sophisticated business meetings to couples having a romantic dinner.

We entered the restaurant by chance, after the visit to the zoo.
The food is tasty. The staff is helpful. Only the prices are a bit higher than in other restaurants. Having said that, we could have guessed that as there is a coat-guy at the enterance and there is a menu with the prices, so there shoukd be no surprices.

Stumbled upon this place by chance.
Interior design is very cosy, old-fashioned and 'granny-style', in a really good way.
Staff was very friendly and attentive.
Food is sort of Russian-soul food with a few nice twist.
Prices were very reasonable.
Also they had live music when we were there.

Much better, than at the previous restaurant’s location. In fact, it’s not a big restaurant, but at the same time quite cozy, mostly because of the atmosphere inside. In love with cherry vareniki and beef stroganoff with fried potatoes!
