It's secondary to the Kremlin, but worth going over the bridge to walk around and hope some of the buildings are open. There was a children's festival when I was there which added to the charm of the place. There is a museum of folk implements etc. which was open, but frankly wasn't worth it.

Was once Prince Yaroslavs Courtyard, it would have been an exciting place, full of markets and warehouses, nowadays there is not a lot left. The best part is the picture it presents from the Kremlin side of the river, looking back at it.

Actually, very interesting historical place but in a very bad state. No lights, all buildings definitely lack care.

This is the "famous" courtyard, but has little context to understand what and why. I suggest you spend your time elsewhere in this historic city.

This is a courtyard. That sums up a lot of what there is to say about it. However, it was a very important covered market once upon a time and so is worth stopping by. There are lots of benches in the area to sit at and enjoy the view of the river. A good spot for a picnic.

We visited this charming part of Veliky Novgorod, which is located on the right bank of Volhov River, just across the Kremlin Walls of Novgorod.
This area of town represented and still does the same role in the life of Veliky Novgorod, that is, the trade center of this old russian town. Here, beside the many commercial stores, shops, there are also some churches, with very original wall paintings, then Arcade of Gostiny Dvor
and Monument Tourist at the end of elegant, arched Kremlin Bridge.
This Monument Tourist is in fact one bronze statue of a woman.
We made some pleasant walk within this region, on the left and right side from the abutment of the bridge.
Very interesting, like it was in Kremlin as well.

To complete your trip in Veliky Novgorod, and just a short walk over a pedestrian bridge from the Kreml, visit the Yaroslav Courtyard to see merchants' churches and old store houses. Some of the building house interesting museums today, admission fee is normally 200 Rub per adult and 100 Rub for children from 7y. Nice park surrounds this area.

This place is right across the river from the Kremlin, and they are connected by a nice pedestrian bridge. It's a quiet, pleasant walk with a beautiful park and great view of the river and the Kremlin. In addition, it's fun if you are into history - the place is home to several churches dating back to 10-11th centuries. Nice combination of medieval Indiana Jones-style archeological wonders and just a nice park with a riverfront. My wife and I had a good time and enjoyed walking around here, away from crowded Moscow.
