My friends and I stayed at the hotel for one splendid night. We were all really impressed with this place. This is very comfortable, good looking, Russian style hotel with nice restaurants and banyas located in the heart of the city (the Kremlin is in front of the building).
If you would like to discover Russian hospitality this place is #1 in the city!

Room Tip: Try one of the Russian saunas here ;-)

Stayed here for two nights on a recent trip to Yaroslavl. The location is perfect - right in downtown, just across the street from the city's historic Kremlin. The hotel's theme could perhaps best be described as Russian folk-kitsch ("Bogatyrs recommend Alyosha Popovich Dvor!" said the booking email), but it was pleasant without being over-the-top.

Free breakfast was tasty and plentiful - they served up traditional Russian favorites, so if you're looking for something more American-style you might be better off going to the upscale supermarket next door. And by Russian standards I found most of the staff to be remarkably friendly - especially the security guard, who cheerfully let me in and out of the baggage storage room several times after I checked out but before my night train leaving the city. Additionally, the entire place - including the room and bathroom - is spotlessly clean.

Do be sure to bring some earplugs, particularly if you're staying on the 3rd floor - the sloped, attic-style wooden roof conducts noise quite well from neighboring rooms, and as this is a 'tourist complex' aimed at the Russian holiday maker, I heard the distinct sounds of vacationers from down the hall - TV, phone conversations, etc. Nothing terribly noisy, and if you're a light sleeper like I am, a pair of earplugs will do the trick.

Overall, highly recommended!

I thought this was a great place when I entered it.
Rooms with street windows are very noisy.
Ask for more shampoo, as their crazy sachets are so tiny
that one needs at least four to wash hair.
It was very tidy everywhere.
Service was quite impersonal and not great.
Breakfast was great. So much food.
Service there was not better.
They try to get you out of there fast by pulling your pkate away
the minute you take a breath and put utensils down.
Hold onto them tight.
If one is shy, there is a rusk of leaving the restaurant hungry.
Childrens' tunes shout into your ears the entire time. Very funny.
There is an interactive fun show included in the price of your accommodation.
It is lame, but much fun.
15 minutes or so will give you sone exposure to the Russian Folk stories, tales and
Setting.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms upstairs, tell them you do not like noise.

We stayed here for four nights in February while visiting our daughter, who is studying in Yaroslavl. We chose it over the rather impersonal chain hotels. The location is perfect, right in the most attractive part of the city, just opposite the ancient Kremlin (and just around the corner from the local "Fortnum & Masons" - a luxury food store, which is worth a look).

It is not a luxurious hotel, but you do not expect that when you book. It is attractive and cosy, with friendly, English speaking staff on the front desk 24 hours a day. Breakfast is adequate (Russian rather than international), served in the very comfy, but rather bizarre, function room - complete with colourful murals depicting the founding of the city.

We chose an attic room as were told that others could be noisy. The heating was easy to control - we turned off the radiators and left them off. There were skylights which can be opened. The rooms are simple - pillows are not great and there is no sound proofing - so you can hear people in other rooms if they are talking loudly. The bathroom was fine and everything was clean.

There was a faint smell of cigarette smoke throughout the hotel which filters through from the smoking areas on the landings.

But taking everything into consideration, I would probably go back to the same hotel because of its friendly atmosphere, good location and value for money. And we did sleep reasonably well.

There are plenty of intersting restaurants close to the hotel.
