“Poor and expensive hotel”
Reviewed 23 April 2012

I do not remember when I was in a hotel so bad. Very expensive (300$ cheapest corporate rate). First room I got was awfully smelly after cuban cigar. Next one had so dirty windows they were almost dark. Bathroom needed some refurbishment, esp the shower. At 7am there started terrible noise from some reconstruction. Lobby bar is overpriced and service is typically Russian - bad. Except convenient location close to metro and airport express not worth to visit.

Stayed two nights at the end of a one week business trip to Russia in order to do a whistle-stop tour of the main sites of this amazing city. The Marriott Tverskaya did not disappoint - extremely comfortable, friendly and accommodating staff, great buffet breakfast and (most important) only a 25 min walk from Red Square. Bar prices and restaurant very expensive, but the hotel is surrounded by bars and restaurants so no obligation to pay big city prices to eat and drink. The hotel is also only a few minutes walk away from the Tverskaya metro station which takes only 5 or 10 mins to get up to the Red Square area.......but study a metro map carefully because the stations are not clearly marked once underground and when they are it is only in cyrillics!

I stayed here for 3 nights in March 2012. The rooms are very spacious and light. I read some reviewes on this website prior to my stay and asked them not to put me in the room overlooking Tverskaya Street, but the girl on the reception said that my floor has double windows and it's very well insulated from outside noise. She said: "You can change it any time if you don't like it". I was sceptical at first, but she was right. I stayed on the 7th floor, there were 2 sets of windows and I didn't hear any noise from the street. Plus I had a nice view of the central Moscow Rd. I do agree, that the hotel is a little outdated and it has a little bit of an old smell. But furniture and fixtures are all new. There are a lot of nice restaurants, coffee shops and nice supermarkets around. There is a metro station very close to the hotel. Overall, I was really happy about the hotel. Excellenet service, large room, comfortable bed and central location. I feel that it offered a good value for the price for being in Moscow.

Room Tip: Higher floors have better noise protection.

I stay in this hotel pretty regulary, and always find it very convenient for me. One of the main reasons is location. It is across the street from Belorusskaya rail and metro station, where direct trains from Sheremetyevo arrive. Secondly, it is only a 30 minute walk or 3 metro stops to the Red Square.

As to the rooms, they vary. The last time I stayed they gave a very small room with a very small cabin shower, no bathtub. The shower cabin was very small. So please ask in advance for a room with a tub.

Also, on a negative side, the food anywhere in the hotel was below standards. The worst was breakfast, with sweets (croissants) from the previous day (or even days).

The staff, especially the reception staff, was very nice, helpful and smiling, which is a rare quality in Moscow, in general.

All in all, it is still one of my favorite hotels in Moscow, mostly, due to the location and brand advanatges.

I needed room only for one night and only for sleep, check in i made around 9 pm and everything i need was good sleep. The hotel is ok, lobby is 4*, bar is fine with very pleasant service. The room look lil bit old, furniture slightly tired.
We were unlucky with the room: 819 number situated in front of some cloak room (at evening stuff used it as a place to collect plates after dinner, at morning it was full of working people). This room is on the corner and all night long was some noise (probably some general ventilation of building in this corner or smth), it was very annoying. So i didn't achieve my main purpose: good sleeping, with the cost of room more than 200 euro this fact very disappointing.

Room Tip: dont take room 819
