In the time of Covid and with NY state having the lowest infection rates (as of 11/19/20), my friend and I decided to stay in the state but get out for a much needed Girls' Trip. We put a drive time of 4 hours max into Google and the Inns of Aurora popped up. The place looked amazing and the price was on budget so we booked it. We'd heard good things about the Finger Lakes region, so that was a plus. But we were blown away by the Inns and their customer service.
First, we got a call that we were upgraded from our twin room at the main house to one at the Zabriske House. We arrived to meet Margie, our Innkeeper, who greeted us at the door like an old friend coming for a visit (albeit, she--we--were all wearing face masks). She checked us in, showed us around this amazingly renovated house and to our beautiful room. It's just like the pictures, but gets even better when she told us the marble floors in the bathroom were heated!!!! The beds were so comfy and the pillows so plush. ALL the choices they made when renovating and decorating this house were on point. We put our stuff down and walked back down this amazing staircase, highlighted by a beautiful light installation and the first landing brings you to a gorgeous picture window with evergreens on display. Margie meet us at the bottom of the stairs with wine and a smores kit... No joke! The firepit out the back door, with gorgeous views of the setting sun over Cayuga Lake, was perfect for us to make our smores and relax after our drive in with our amazing wines (Treleaven semi-dry reisling and Lamoreaux Estate Red
Cuvée). During the entire stay, regardless if we ate in the main Inn at the 1833 Bar & Restaurant, with the amazing meals (and wines, of course) or grabbed a home made granola bar--ahhmazing--and coffee at the House, the customer service is unparalleled. I've stayed in amazing hotels around the world, and by far, the staff of the Zabriske House exceeded those experiences! Especially Margie. She was amazing. She provided recommendations for wineries in the area to try (Bright Leaf and Quarry Ridge) as well as suggestions for an outing we had to Auburn (home of Harriet Tubman) and Seneca Falls (home to Women's Right movement) and recommended the Belhurst Castle for wine tasting and lunch... All on point and perfect for our adventure. We extended our stay another night and were lucky to have availability as they are usually booked. Being a romantic spot, getting a twin room was perfect for us. The food was amazing as well, from brunch to dinner, you have to eat at the 1833 Bar & Restaurant, the make simple, like an omelette or chicken, into devine meals! I will most definitely be coming back to the Inns of Aurora and the Zabriske House or any of their properties. These folks know how to do customer service right!!
