Our stay was approximately 17 days spread over three separate stays Beginning Jan 9, 2012. There are many great features of these hotel beginning with the staff. During the stay I had the opportunity to interact with many of them. I must say everyone I came in contact (greeting, front desk, house keeping, gym, swimming pool, dining, business center, and customer services was very caring. The food was excellent, the attention to cleaniness including room care was really nice. The staff in the business center were very accommodating especially to assist in non-business hours with an urgent need. We had the opportunity to participate in a special hotel function for long term stay guests (Latin Nite). This was a spectacular event with wonderful food and entertainment.
Of course I would be remiss to not mention the MegaMall located within two blocks where you can shop till you drop plus dine in some of the best venues in town. The Robinson Mall is also within easy walking distance plus a smaller mall is right across the street. This is therefore to say that the hotel is strategically located to allowed you to really enjoy local activities as well as get to metropolitan sights or necessary business activities. No matter where you stay traffic is a factor but Discovery Suites greatly aids in minimizing that. You are close to a bus terminal as well as the Manila Rapid Transit. Hotel staff readily assists with taxi and rental vehicles.
Finally, I had several friends who stayed here during the same time period including my travel agent and they all raved about the place. Kudos for Discovery Suites.

Room Tip: We found that a suite with two queen beds was the best for us. I believe it is like a Junior Deluxe Suite.

My family of 5 - 2 teenagers and 3 adults - booked two 1 bedroom units in this hotel last Mar. 31 to April , 2012. First off, we had to carry our own bags - while the front desk said that somebody will take the bags to our room, nobody actually got the bags from us and I was not about to leave our bags on the lobby floor.

I love the rooms which were spacious. Each had a sitting area, kitchen, dining table, utensils for cooking and dining, 2 cable TVs (bedroom and sitting area). There were also complimentary coffee and fruits. Each bedroom had a queen size bed with four pillows - very comfortable. The bathroom is also pretty nice, it has a bathtub, a separate shower, hot and cold water, complimentary toothbrush kit, soap, shampoo, lotion, conditioner, bath gel and hair dryer. The location was also pretty great because right across is Podium (a high end mall) and near SM Megamall and Robinsons Galleria. While other hotels offer free shuttle service to malls, Discovery Suites charge 250 pesos per head, so I suggest that you just ride a taxi which will just cost 100 pesos if you don't care for walking.

Another one on the bad side is the restaurant were they served the buffet breakfast (Restaurant 5) - the food selection was very limited - cereals, bacon, bread and rolls, cheese, omelette, butter, preserves, grilled pork - none of the usual filipino fare like longganisa, tapa, tocino, etc. and the buffet food lacked taste and were also not replenished on time. I think the dining and kitchen staff were overwhelmed with the number of people who stayed over during that weekend, there was a long queue of people who were waiting to be seated and waiting for food to be served.

The brochure said complimentary use of the pool but we were not able to do that as the pool is very small and I think was made with kids in mind.

Dear pearlsandwine63,

Many thanks for your inputs. We have been reviewing our processes, to determine what measures we can take to make the check-in process more seamless to our guests.

With regard to our culinary offers, our Food and Beverage team has just introduced new buffet concepts for lunch and will soon implement similar changes for breakfast. Please know that our buffet choices always take into account the varied tastes of our international and local guests.

We appreciate your comments on our rooms. They are indeed spacious when compared to other hotel rooms in the Pasig area. We are hopeful that on your next visit, you book one of our brand new Serendipity Suites. You will find that the interiors of our new accommodations are more contemporary, but still retain the “homey” feel that most of our guests appreciate.

Thank you and regards

Stayed 3 nights in the hotel 23-25 March 2012.

The Positives

The staff were very friendly and helpful
Good central location
Bedding and sheets were clean

The Negatives

The room after being cleaned smelt stale and generally didn't feel clean and fresh
A dirty cleaning rag was left lying on a table after the room had been cleaned on the first day - I had to get the maid to remove it
The bedside lights suffered from an intermittent electrical fault - one minute they worked the next they didn't
The TV remote didn't work
The bathroom had mold on the shower grouting and generally needed a good clean and updating
The water was always just warm - certainly not hot enough to have a bath
The shower pressure was very week
One of the shower doors was hanging off its rail
Bizarrely the mini shampoo container provided by the hotel was just refilled each day with very cheap shampoo
The toilet is located directly adjacent to the shower door - when you step out of the shower you have to place a shower mat on the floor next to the base of the toilet - not particularly hygienic or convenient
If someone is using the toilet it is very difficult for another person to actually
get into the shower
The breakfast was very average
The communal areas look tatty and need updating
The lifts are the slowest I have ever experienced - if the lift is busy you could spend the majority of your stay simply standing in the lift
Only two chairs in the reception - hopeless for a large party of people
Not tea or milk provided in the room
The kettle was dirty and need cleaning
No bedside switches to control the room lights

Dear Philip B,

Greetings from Discovery Suites.

We appreciate your comments, both complementary and constructive.

It may interest you to know that we are going full blast with the renovation of our guest rooms. We have actually rolled out a total of 4 renovated floors, each of them with brand new accommodations which we have named Serendipity Suites. Let us know when you will back so we can have you experience it. We have been getting very positive comments from guests who have stayed there and we trust that it will be the same for you.

With regard to your other concerns, please know that we have discussed the items you mentioned with the department heads in charge. Rest assured that they are fully committed not to let these service lapses recur.

Again, our sincere thanks for taking the time to write about our experience.

The most outstanding quality of this hotel is the service. Starting from the front desk Joyce who assisted us in our check-in to April who heard our plea to transfer to a different room, and to Arnold, the helpful staff manning the swimming pool area - they all made us feel very comfortable in our stay. For example, while we are swimming, the staff will offer us unlimited juices and coffee and at times some finger foods like corn dog. When we call housekeeping to request for extra blanket, the service is immediate and someone called us up after to check if we did get the request we asked for. Thumbs up to great service!!

Having said that, there are a couple of things that I wish can be improved with the hotel: for starters, the swimming pool is a bit of disappointment. The size is small compared to most hotels and for some reason, the water is very very cold. The second thing is, the water in the swimming pool and jacuzzi is a bit 'foggy' or dirty.

Third feedback - the pillows on the room seemed to be very thick but not fluffy. It strained my neck a bit to sleep on it.

Lastly, some of the food served in the buffet breakfast is not great. The hashbrown for example is no longer crunchy and does not taste like freshly cooked. Same goes for the pizza that is hard to bite.

Overall, service is great, breakfast is average, the room is okay and the pool is not.

Room Tip: Stay away from rooms ending in xx06. It is at the end of the corridor and is smaller in size compared to others.
