We spent two nights at Cantuta Inn in Puno and had a great stay! The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the center of Puno (Plaza de Armas) and a little bit further from the port (15 minute walk).
The rooms were clean and comfortable, although our shower didn't drain very well. But great water pressure and hot water, which isn't always guaranteed in South America.
Breakfast had a decent selection of fruit, yogurt with granola, bread/toast and you also get a choice of fried or scrambled eggs. Juice, coffee and plenty of coca tea is also available (with coffee and tea available near the reception all day). Breakfast is available from 6:00AM - 10:00AM, which is great if you have a tour with an early departure.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. We stored our luggage at the hotel for a number of hours on the day we checked out, which was a big help. The staff even helped us call the bus company when they were late picking us up from the hotel.
Overall, we had a very comfortable stay and felt that it was good value for money in Puno.
