Decent 3* hotel located in city center close to the main square ( about 5 minutes walking) Clean rooms with lot of towels, air ventilation, quiet.
Wifi was working like a charm. Staff at the desk is really helpful, and let me check out later than indicated, since I have to take a night bus. Basic breakfast, but still good enough for the price. Would stay again.
Muchas Gracias por sus comentarios, esperamos nos pueda visitar en otra oportunidad.
I chose Hotel Santa Rosa based on Lonely Planet. The taxi driver who took me from the airport to the hotel kept telling me that I was going to an unsafe place in the city and kept insisting on driving me to another hotel. I decided to trust Lonely Planet and still went to Santa Rosa.
They have friendly staff, willing to help finding my way around and recommending places to eat. They are 2 blocks away from a supermarket, a 10-minute walk away from the bus station and close to the Plaza de Armas, etc.
I'm happy that I stuck to my choice and would probably go there again, if I'm looking for a basic hotel. The decor seems a bit old, but the friendliness and cleanliness is a makes up for it.
There is a small dining room where we can eat our continental breakfast (included). If we want eggs and other food, it's available for a small price (2 scrambled eggs was 3 soles).
On Lonely Planet's recommendation, we had booked into "almost boutique like" Hotel Kalu. The staff there were off-hand. The 2 rooms they showed us, after we refused to pay in advance, were dingy and probably noisy. So, we telephoned the Santa Rosa and went straight there. Are we glad...
The place is traditional rather then modern and trendy. It was one of the few places we stayed where the price had not gone up since the guide book was published in 2010. The room we chose was on the top floor at the back. It was light and spacious with a double and single bed, carpeted and well equipped including 3, yes three, towels each! And, except for some machine switching on for an hour at about 5.30 every morning, it was quiet. All the staff were friendly and helpful, on two mornings going out of their way to provide breakfast before the dining room officially opened so that we could leave early.
It is a safe 5-10 minute walk along lit roads into the main square, and there is a good supermarket on the next block. The Chinese restaurant recommended by the receptionist was excellent.
We spent a few nights here (room 214) at rear of hotel which was spacious and sunny as faces west. Other rooms inside hotle looked less enticing without windows, so check rooms first! Hotel is professional and clean and staff were flexible as to checkout times. Beds very comfortable. Location handy as quite close to centre and 2 supermarkets on doorstep which were handy for supplies. Good value.
Nothing special about this place, but at 80 soles a night with a simple breakfast included, it was perfectly adequate. The decoration is a little old fashioned, but the staff were friendly and helpful. Only a few blocks from the main square.
