“Brilliant Holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2012

My husband and I have just returned from a week at Le Victoria to celebrate our 30th anniversary. This was our fourth trip to the island but first time at Le Victoria. On arrival we were upgraded to a De Luxe Room which was a really lovely surprise. Room was very spacious with a good bathroom and gorgeous view through the gardens to the sea. It was kept in tip-top condition during our stay with a turn-down service in the evenings.

We went half board and only ate at Le Superbe, the buffet restaurant. We never felt it necessary to try the other restaurants as the food was great with plenty of choice at every meal. We never managed to eat everything that we wanted to as the choice was too big!!! Service at every meal was good with no waiting for drinks to be ordered or delivered to our table. Lunch time we usually had a baguette on the beach - smoked marlin is a must have.

We tried just about every activity offered by the boat house and particularly enjoyed the snorkelling as there is a marine park just in front of the hotel. Saw lots of fish during our three trips out to the reef. Even snorkelling off the beach to the left of the boat house is good for someone who isn't happy in deep water or just wanting to get their confidence up before venturing out into deeper water.

During our stay we went into Grand Baie twice to stock up on drinks and snacks then to do the undersea walk. First trip we went by taxi which cost us Rs1500. Driver waited for two hours while we shopped etc. For the second trip we hired a scooter from Le Meridien hotel next door which cost Rs900 for the day. We really enjoy using a scooter as you get to experience the smells and sounds at close range. There is also a local bus which runs to Grand Baie during the day - bus stop is about a 15 minute walk from the hotel. Friends used it and really enjoyed the trip.

The beach was lovely but does have a lot of coral at the water's edge. We knew about this beforehand so bought cheap water shoes at SuperU in Grand Baie on our first morning which worked really well. They are also available in the boutique at the hotel but are more expensive there.

The hotel is marketed as a family resort so there were lots of children enjoying the facilities. As a couple in our 50's this didn't bother us at all but for travellers wanting a romantic, quiet hotel Le Victoria may not be the right choice. That said, there were a number of weddings during our stay as well. As the resort is big you can find a place away from families if you really want to.

Evenings are spent at Le Corail Bleu bar where there is entertainment every night. During our stay there was an amazing acapela group who are not to be missed!! Other shows include an Indian dance show, Cabaret and Sega evening. All are good fun. Once the show finishes there is dancing to the resident band or DJ until about 11.30pm. No late night noise at any of the Mauritian hotels we have stayed at.

The weather during our stay was great with virtually no rain during the day. All in all a really good hotel which we reckon will be hard to beat for value for money. We certainly wouldn't hesitate to go back to Le Victoria on our next trip.

My husband, myself and our 5 year old son came to Le Victoria for a week. It was our first Mauritius experience. And what an awesome experience it was. From the moment we stepped onto the island we were greeted by friendly faces and were welcomed by everybody. Getting to the resort was a breeze, the taxi was pleasant and the reception at the hotel was very accommodating. Our whole stay was amazing, the kids club was awesome and they always had activities on for the kids to do. Oh, and the food.... the food was divine! There was always something to look forward to at every meal. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Anything that we needed at any time, a staff member sorted it out with a smile. The beach activities were also very good and equipment was always available. I really would recommend this holiday resort to everyone. And I cannot wait to come back again in the future.

Room Tip: Rooms on the ground floor have easier access to the beach.

My wife and I, resident in Mauritius. enjoyed a magical week's vacation over New Year 2012 at this hotel. with our grandchildren. We enjoyed every moment and had no complaints whatsoever. The staff were fantastic, the rooms were superb, so was the food. We highly recommend this hotel for both local and foreign visitors to Mauritius.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not too far from the main building

This is the 1st time we have travelled to Mauritius with our children of which it will always be extremely memorable as we celebrated 2 special occasions. Our wedding and my 40th on the same day. We chose Mauritius as there is only 1 wedding per day unlike other areas of the world where there can be more than one wedding. The hotel was great food brilliant the staff are amazing and nothing is too much trouble. We had a lovely wedding co-ordinator Marisa who organised everything perfectly. The staff are so friendly and accomodating no matter where they work. The hotel was very clean, towels changed twice a day. We had x2sup rooms interconnecting on the first floor which was perfect. There is a minibar in the room which certain things are extra eg. chocolate, pringles which can be very pricey. The decor in the rooms is lovely and very clean. The bathrooms are nice and big with shower area and seperate bath with 2 sinks and seperate toilet. The balcony had a lovely view of the gardens which are beautifully kept and a view of the beach. Their are X3 restaurants x2 are an extra premium but we stayed at the hotels all inclusive restaurant Le Superbe. We were more than pleased with everything there. The food, the service the variety of the buffet was great with some themed nights too. The pool is very child friendly and not very deep so children can play volleyball in pool with animation team etc....We spent most of our time on the beach as we enjoyed the view and the space. The sand is nice but beware of the rocks and sea urchins. Make sure you take beach shoes if you dont you can buy in the shop in the hotel not sure how much though. Our amazing day was amazing the wedding took place around 4pm which is a great time of day as you can catch the sunset for photos after. We got married on the beach under the wooden Gazebo/studio that has a thatched roof. They decorated it wonderfully with voile curtains, the arch we had and winged back chairs had all the tropical flowers that matched my bouqet at an extra price well worth it photos are amazing. I also requested the Mauritian Sega troop dancers to escort me to the beach. They then danced for us and had photos with us. It was the best. Thankyou Le Victoria we will remember it forever.
