Confused about being an AIRPORT hotel

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 12 Jan 2019via mobile
I'm going to start by saying it was pretty good in terms of a place to crash between flights, but there were so many little things that could be improved with a tiny modicum of thought.

The "industrial chic" design inside shipping containers means that there is a lot of hollow metal which dongs sonorously every time someone touches it. It's a bit late to fix but....

I'm grateful for the succession of security doors, but is it absolutely necessary they should open with a beep? And clang shut? Disconnect the buzzers and pad the door frames!

The "capsule" is a metre square plywood and steel box, 15cm bigger than a standard single bed mattress. It was scrupulously clean and the bed was really comfortable. A roller blind created privacy. There was a drop down "table" but it dropped so far nothing would stay on it. There was a single plug socket, but in between flights I had multiple things to charge. Just an additional USB port would have made things much easier. There was a built in box for valuables if you were the sort of prepared traveller that carries a padlock with you.

The luggage lockers are OUTSIDE the secure sleeping zone, so don't forget anything because otherwise you'll find yourself lugging your bags around in a fairly crowded public place in a towel.

The lockers were pretty generous and they had extra storage for additional or oversize cases.

I liked the shampoo/shower gel dispensers in the shower but don't understand why there was nowhere to hook the shower head up. You had to hold it all the way through your wash. There is only one hook inside the cubicle. I was juggling the clothes I was taking off, the towel, and the clothes I was putting on (along with a pair of sneakers) and trying not to get anything wet.

They must have some deal with the mattress company because there were adverts for them everywhere. If I was in a position to be buying a mattress in KL, I wouldn't be staying at the capsule overnight! The adverts all had super unhelpful suggestions on how to get a good nights sleep. Nowhere did it say "Don't fly across 9 timezones".

They gave everyone a bag containing a towel, a disposable toothbrush and a bottle of water. There was nowhere to refill either it or your own. Tea or Coffee on the premises would have been very welcome, but was also sadly not available.

Finally to the thing that really dragged this review down for me. There was no useful information that people who were breaking a journey might like to know. Which airlines fly from which terminal? How long does the shuttle bus between terminals take and when does it run? Where do you catch the KLIA express or the bus to wherever? Where might be open for food at 3am? The staff didn't know anything useful and said "we're a hotel, not an information counter." Having stayed at similar flop-shops at airports all over the world I thought that was well below the bar.

If I'm passing through again, for the money, I'll stay at the tune hotel. It's only 100m away and the doors don't beep.

Overall it was a great place to stay for a short time. It is quite cheap and comfortable to stay. The staff are helpful. If you're transiting for a few hours in KLIA2 or even want to stay for a full night, and looking for something cheap and comfortable, this a place for you! It's like a capsule not bunk bed, so you do have your privacy. The downside is just there's no coverage within the hotel itself! So you can use hotel's wifi instead.

Capsule? hmmm better call it a container (lol) but there it is, on lower floor of KLIA 2 (don't remember the floor number, but its the floor where you can catch a bus or taxi) so you have to clear out from immigration first (and going through immigration check points again if you want to catch your next flight). They will ask for a deposit of 50 ringgit when you checks in, or hold your passport or other ID card, don't forget to take them back when you checks out (lol)

The chamber ups the container or capsule consist of 1 bedding with clean sheets, blanket and pillows for couple (I travels as couple). There's 2 electric socket which everyone is fussing aloud (bring your own connector if you need more charging point or ask the hotel staff for assistance, smart traveller yes?) and wi-fi with decent signal at least on my capsule ups chamber.

The bathroom is shared with other guest, okay? So respect others when you use it, when its dirty, don't panic and run away screaming, just contact the hotel staff.
Ah almost forgot, you got a small bag containing towel, slippers and small mineral water upon checking in.

You can bring your personal stuff in with you and leave your baggage in the lockers. What? You bring your huge baggage? Again, ask help from the hotel staff. They are sure helpful towards me and another 3 travelers when we checks in at 2 am.

If you're looking for more privacy, we walks past some room with real doors (lol) otherwise you got chambers ups capsules with the infamous roller blinds. I just dont get it... it's just a place to rest for a couple hours, why the privacy? (lol and still laughing now)

Room tip: Ask rooms away from the bathroom and toilet for less noise, book the chamber ups capsule with doors (still laughing)

We stayed in capsule by containers for 12 hours (by night). It is safe and quite. Bed and shower were clean and not too crowded. Good value for money. There was a locker inside the capsule to keep your valuable things in while sleeping.

The accomodation is good enough for a quick nap. Comfy bed, with Wifi and charging port. The toilets are nice. The price is a bit above the average, but it really close to the airport. The price also varies as per hour. So be sure to plan your stay properly. As for privacy, the couple/queeny room also equipped with the roller blind. As a couple, we feel not too comfortable, because the room is not completely closed.

I'm giving this place 4 stars because of the value and convenience it provides but it has its drawbacks. If you're travelling as a couple or family, you're probably better off because you will likely be choosing a room with a proper door. Because I was a solo traveller, I was allocated a "capsule" with roller blinds for privacy. Which means you can hear every foot step and whisper outside- not a good way to rest. Also, bathroom and toilets were just ok. Not up to the cleanliness level I was expecting but not a total turn off either. Positive was that the capsule was neat and clean and mattress and pillows were comfy. There are also charging points and Wi-Fi in the capsule. Again, use this place for the convenience and value but be aware of the drawbacks.
