This hotel has finally come of age with the new renovations. It looks AMAZING!!!!
The check-in has always been fast and efficient here since it opened in KLIA 2 and all the staff are charming as a hotel reception should be.
On this visit (and there have been many many others) we found the room presentation to be the best we’ve ever seen it. House- keeping needs to be commended on the tidiness and cleanliness we encountered on Level 5. It looked like a new hotel when the lift doors opened, I couldn’t believe how tidy the corridor was, and everything looked to have been recently repainted.
The downstairs restaurant beside reception has extended outwards and now incorporates a new look “5-star” extension with a garden area. It’s pretty smik for a budget hotel. There are “jet engine” sculptures, bright blue low lighting, cantilever umbrellas and comfortable lounges scattered everywhere, along with restaurant table seating and potted plants. It’s a wonderfully comfortable place to unwind after a long flight.
We arrived during Happy Hour but were battling to find any one of the 5 service staff to notice us (they all seemed happier talking and swapping telephone messages with each other)
Unfortunately, it was all downhill from there after our initial excitement.
We were starving so helped ourselves to a menu from the bar and began licking our lips with the limited small plate menu. After 3 goes at trying to order with the staff we eventually placed an order at the bar for one of everything the menu had on offer, along with 4 beers. (A bargain during Happy Hour at 10 ringgit) Another half hour went past before our beers materialised (we checked on the order 3 times!!!) and even longer for our food. The whole experience was a comedy of errors which we politely accepted was probably teething problems.
When the food eventually arrived, it looked atrocious and we couldn’t identify what anything was. Obviously, some effort had been made on the presentation with new black porcelain bowls and dipping sauce bowls which looked great, but the food itself was a disgrace. Even the old pizza menu WAS edible.
One dish, (which we sent back) was what looked like deep fried onions (till they were burnt black) with what looked like burnt black chilli’s and little lumps of burnt bone sitting on top.
(a deep fried disaster!!!!)
The whole food/beverage experience I’d prefer to forget really but I have to say in summary:
From the old days of the original Tune Hotel at LCCT this hotel is magnificent.
It is well priced, soooooooo convenient to overnight (just a 5 minute covered walk from the Arrivals Hall to level P3 in Carpark B lift.) And after a one hour plus queue up each time through “Imigresen” (the slowest immigration in the world!!!!!!) this hotel and its bar is ALWAYS a welcome sight.
I love what has been done with your new extensions but PLEASE……………………………………..
Get a barman who has some idea of how to run an efficient bar so no patron has to wait more than 5 minutes for their drinks.
Get a bright new food/beverage menu, (perhaps include a daily cocktail.)
Train, train, train a team of young, smiling, enthusiastic, dedicated staff to enhance your wonderful new garden space, who understand when to present the account so you don’t have to wait another 20 minutes and identify where you placed the order to then tell them what you had!!!!!
And employ a fully pledged chef who can knock up a menu of fresh salads and Malaysian cuisine (something your country is famous for.)
I’m back in a month and look forward to enjoying my first drink in under an hour in your new garden and not having to query the bill after being charged full price for my drinks ordered through Happy Hour.

On the positive side the room was clean, water pressure in the shower was good and breakfast was okay.
On the negative side, dinner in the restaurant was not very nice and the instructions for the wifi were incorrect.
In fact, despite several attempts from various devices , we never did manage to log on. Not a big issue for some but extremely inconvenient when trying to run a business whilst travelling.

Very regular, small and clean room to stay one night before or after your flight.
Not very good soundproofing, we heard everything that other guests did speak in the corridor at night. So not very pleasant.

Breakfast room was nice looking but it was packed with Chinese tourists and almost all the food was finished, no fresh fruits, no milk for coffee, no sweet pastries.. Very noisy and stressing.

What a makeover! I stayed here approx 1.5 years ago and it was horrible. The room was uncomfortable and Service was poor.

They have undergone some reno and Voila!Quick check in, bar and 24 restaurant (which looks fab for a Budget hotel) - also like to add that the staff at Makan went beyond service by accommodating our request to watch a TV channel not available in room on their projector! Thank you!

We booked the premium room, modern and clean. And we like the side sofa and thoughtful wall hangers. Good channels if you need TV.

Breakfast was adequate, the restaurant was beautifully lighted by natural light.

Just hope they keep up the good work and surely this will be my choice for KL stopovers!
