The Ranee was such a great discovery! Amazing service from the reception staff made it feel like a home from home with great recommendations for activities and checking out the local area as well as arranging transport. A big thanks to Teo for being such as star. The rooms are gorgeous, perfectly clean and with lots of luxurious facilities. The hotel is very quirky with nice features which made breakfast a pleasant experience. The food was first class so much so that we both had the same dishes all three mornings we were there. Can not recommend this highly enough! Well done to all the team!

We found the Ranee to be a high quality hotel, modern and comfortable, with a good waterfront location and a nice full breakfast. Not rated a 5 because our room (like most) had no windows, just an opening to an ‘atrium’ which was sometimes noisy (a minor problem only); and also some service issues, such as not getting scheduled wake-up calls - though in most respects service was quite good. Would definitely stay again.

Dear Valued Guests

Greetings from the Ranee!

Our hotel is built on 2 very old intermediate shophouses on one of the oldest streets in Kuching - The Main Bazaar. Inevitably, there will be some rooms that do not have windows; however these rooms do have a small balcony facing the airwell.

Please accept my sincere apologies over the wake up call due to an oversight from our reception. We hope that such an incidence will not happen again. Thank you for your kind understanding.

We hope that you will consider staying with us again the next time you plan to visit Kuching.

Warmest Wishes
Mary Chan

What an absolutely lovely hotel. We did have a few troubles with air conditioning but it did not detract from the amazing atmosphere. Location could not be better. We also booked the city tour and Semenggoh tour through the hotel rep, both of which are a must

I had booked a deluxe room only to find that, large room that it was, it was dark and didn't have a very "enlightening" window, this was set awkwardly in the corner of the room and opened onto a cramped balcony overlooking an interior sort of courtyard. I upgraded to an executive suite just to get a look at the outside world but that room was very long with uninteresting furniture so I hardly used it. I later discovered that the standard rooms which have the windows overlooking the street would have been just what I would have liked. The decor is artsy and is rather nice, especially the spacious reading room, but the ever present muzac ... Abba amongst other dross... really got on my nerves. I checked out several rooms all very individual but quite honestly the place was a bit too clever and not actually all that comfortable. Great bathrooms, and beds, pretty average restaurant, very expensive souvenir shop.

Room Tip: The standard rooms have windows, the Suites are very "clever"

Dear Sylvia

Greetings from the Ranee Boutique Suites!

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear that neither our deluxe suite nor our executive suite had met up with your expectations. We have noted your comments about the music.

If you should visit Kuching again, do let us know and we would be happy to reserve a standard suite facing the waterfront for you.

Warmest Wishes
Mary Chan

Loved the place. the suite rooms have character due to their physical layout, and the staff at reception and the M-Bar were friendly and extremely helpful. loved the little balconies the suite rooms have, both an avenue for a smoke while watching dusk set over the city of Kuching. comfortable beds and wonderfully designed bathrooms, giving the experience of showering in nature. the glass walls and doors though don't give privacy if you're not sharing with someone you're in a relationship with. definitely a must stay.

the local nightlife at Carpenter St is but a 5 minute walk away. Do check out the Shack there.
