My husband , our 7-year old son and I stayed at Batik Boutique from 5 June to 8 June. The room was comfortable and the toiletries were of spa quality and the rain shower had good water pressure. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was great to return to the hotel after a day out to a warm and friendly welcome from the staff. They were always ready to assist us with our requests and made time for chit chat with us whenever we were at the lobby. The manager ,Jolyn, helped us to arrange for a trip to Bako National park with a guide when we asked her about Bako and when we could not find a particular Chinese restaurant and went back to the hotel to ask for directions, she immediately got her staff,Jack, to drive us to the restaurant. This is really excellent service which comes so naturally to the crew at Batik Boutique, nothing felt scripted like some service that we experienced at large hotels. The location of the hotel was very good. It was within walking distance to esplanade , museum, main bazzar, China town and right next to the huge food court for live seafood, Top Spot. Breakfast was delicious and well portioned with serving of fruits, cereals, main dish. There was an ala- carte menu for the main dish , which was indivually prepared by the excecutive chef when the order was placed, this is a welcome change from the usual breakfast buffet by other hotels. We enjoyed our stay very much and we felt like we were leaving our friends' home when we checked out and every one of the crew we met bid us farewell personally and reminded us to visit them again. We would definitely recommend Batik Boutique to everyone planning a trip to Kuching.

Room Tip: The power to the fridge is cut off when the keycard is taken out of the slot. If you need the fridge to be on at all times ask for a second key card.

We've stayed here twice and consider it the best hotel in Kuching - and this includes the posh big name hotels!

The BB has luxury fittings from raindrop showers to fancy teas but staff are sweet so it feels more like a home.

Only drawback is no pool!

Unique hotel in central Kuching. Pick-up service from the airport. The room and food were excellent, and the crew contributed beyond all expectations to make our 6 days vacation in the Kuching area to a top experience. They helped planning and organizing fantastic visits in Bako and Gunnung Gading national parks, and suggested different activities in the area. It was a great surprise for us that it was in Borneo we should have the best ever hotel experience.

This hotel is a favorite of NGO officials, extended travelers, and those business folks who don't need Hilton level services but want to be close in. The hotel is on an active merchant street 2 blocks from the river walkway, and within 3 blocks of the Pullman and Hilton hotels. Rooms are nicely done and air conditioned, with in room safes. Breakfast is provided in the small restaurant on the lobby level. Apparently the hotel recently took over the restaurant and there were some serving timing issues for which they were most apologetic. A small bar and patio off the lobby have nicely chilled beers (you pay) at days end. I had some mechanical issues in my room, and management promptly attended to them. I heard others in our party had mild complaints about air conditioner noise and street noise. You will not have the ambience and service of a Hilton but then it is probably 1/3 the price or less.

Room Tip: Rooms towards the rear might be quieter

My daughter and I stayed five days and were delighted with the very helpful and friendly staff, it felt like we were friends rather than guests. The room was beautifully decorated and spacious with very comfortable beds and a lovely shower room. This small hotel is close to the centre of Kuching and is very close to the Hot Spot fish restaurants, a must if you like fish. The restaurant was in the process of changing from Japanese to western and the menu was a bit of a mix but the food was good.
