Visiting Sarawak and not going to Semenggoh is like visiting Paris without visiting Louvre. Great experience seeing orangutans for the first time in a wild, great staff talking about the citizens of the forest that all have names and are treated as family by the rangers, definitely not as tourist attraction. Visitors coming are for the animals, not the opposite. The good example of people being close to the nature - but helping not disturbing.

Went here in October advised us we may not see any Orangutangs as they are wild and so it’s not guaranteed they will come down to eat. Anyhow the guide went and put food out and called them and at first we had a big male and then a Mum and baby, they all stayed for ages and ate the fruit and climbed up the ropes and poles near the feeding station, so lovely to see, they keep everyone in a safe watching area and are respectful of the Orangutangs. Nice to see them as wild as they can be but safe.

Great place for meeting with orangutans (during feeding time). If you visit Sarawak area you have to see that!

We booked a tour to see the Orangutans and Kayaking.
Well it takes time and patience but it is very rewarding to be able to see the Orangutans in their habitat. We were lucky enough to see a female with her little one and 2 males. I said lucky because it was fruits season and they have plenty to eat and don't need to come when the rangers call them for feeding session. Take a sweat rag it was very humid, bug spray and sunscreen were very usefull.
