Longing for italian food but not in Italy, Beccari offers a wide spectrum of choices Mama Mia definately a place worth going for Italian Cruzine. Beccari is perfect outing to impress your spouse or valentine dates, learn a few words of italy and cite some italian food in the menu and you are on to give a impeccable night in an italian Ristorante.

Ristorante Beccari used to be one of our favorite Italian restaurants in Kuching. Special family occasions were often celebrated with meals here. Wood-fired Pizzas, pastas (especially pesto & marinara), salads & calamari (which was the best if not one of the best in town!) were our routine orders. We celebrated our wedding anniversary here a few months back & our experience made us swear not to come back. The friendly & attentive staff (especially the captain & pizza chefs) we were familiar with were no longer there. My husband, who was looking forward to celebrate with a glass of red wine, was told the restaurant no longer serve alcohol. My favorite calamari did not taste as I remembered and the service was disappointing - there were only 2 tables being served at that time but the 2 waiters & the captain were most of the time out of sight. The worst part was - despite the smoke and burning smell inside the restaurant while baking - they still served us the burnt-tasting black crusted inedible pizza!!!

The Sunday night buffet was once great - the best Italian in town. However, quality has slipped. The thin, crispy pizzas are still the highlight. The carvery was unattended and had only dry unappetising offerings. The salad bar, previously a highlight with smoked salmon and beef carpaccio, had little more than lettuce and the desserts, never a strong point, were limited. The fresh fruit was good, but the icecream was icy and limited to 3 flavours. Apparently the management of the hotel has changed and it no longer serves alcohol - so no red wine for those who like it with their Italian. I am not so fussed, but the food has lost its lustre.

The italian buffet is worth a try. The salad bar is different and has interesting and yummy items especially the grilled veges. For pizza and pasta lovers (the kiddos) , you'll be all smiles! Excellent roast lamb and sirloin steak. The waiters/waitresses are super friendly. The desserts are a bit of a let down though.

The waiters and waitresses are very friendly with top notch Italian food. I personally like the thin-crust pizza. In short, one of the best Italian restaurants in Kuching.
