When in KK make sure this trip is on your itinerary. It leaves every Wednesday and Saturday and both the service and food are good.
An excellent way to see the area without any stress.

“Antique train ride”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 February 2012

The nature and the experience of the old train. The organisation to go from the hotel to the train station and the punctuality and the bus transfer without any problems. I am not good in writing books and sorry thee is just not much more I can say. It was just a nice experience going back may be 100 years.

“Really enjoyable trip.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 February 2012

We really enjoyed this trip. Right from the start with the staff in Pithe hats and uniform it was interesting and enjoyable. We were served pastries and tea and coffee on the way down and a lovely 'tiffin' lunch on the way back. It was a really nice way to see a bit of countryside and we saw a few water buffalo too.

“Trip into the past”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 February 2012

We had such a fun time on this almost 100 year old steam engine train. The cars were modern, but they made them look nostalgic.
The food and service were top notch. The scenery was interesting as well. Highly recommend this experience!

“Steamy Experience In Sabah”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 January 2012

A journey into nostalgia of steam engine era chugging on wood-fuelled steam train passing through rustic towns and stopping at the market town of Papar to visit Tamu the local market but sadly no direction was given on how to get there when we stopped at the town. We spent some time looking for it until it was too late to visit as it was time to go by then. Lunch menu could be improved but service is attentive. It's worth going on it as a novelty experience.
