Stayed here for 1 night in May for 2 adults & 2 children. Hotel is not in the main Pangkor Island. It is a reclaimed man made island off the coast of Lumut.
The hotel faces an reclaimed bay which has hardly any waves. This is supposed to be the beach front for the hotel. Beach activities somehow loses it colours when you don't hear waves hitting the sands and strong winds that rushes through your face and hair.
Upon check in on our way to the room, the corridor is not a typical hotel corridor, feels like an apartment corridor.
Room or apartment is huge, with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and a pantry. Furniture is sparse, but everything is brand new and clean.
No wifi in room and TV channel only carries the national broadcast, like most national broadcast, it has decades old re runs of old movies, local news & local TV programs. We have never watch them since the late 80s. Have to bring the kids to Hotel main lobby to get free wifi on their iphones to keep them busy.
Breakfast is not something you would wake up and rush to. You can taste the curry powder in the chicken, soggy mee goreng.
One of the 2 good thing is the croissant making machines that bakes fresh croissant at regular interval. Expect to join local culture, dont queue just grab. Don't break your nose over it, It is not that great - only fresh. Eggs made to order is the other good thing.
Staff is courteous, hardworking, very friendly, very service orientated, has nothing to fault. House keeping is clean and thorough.
Paid RM 388 for a 2 bedroom apartment that includes breakfast.
Signage to this place is few and so badly placed that it is either blocked by overgrown trees or hawker stalls. GPS hasn't got this place on the map. We got lost as it is off the main route to Lumut town. Wil be good if hotel posts the GPS cordinates in their web page.
Rooms service ends at 10 pm, there is no proper shop type of restaurant around unless you take the 15 minutes drive to the 24 hours macdonalds. There is a 7-11 about 5 minutes drive from the hotel which you can grab some bread.
There is a new sparkling ferry terminal to Pangkor Island at the end of this development which apart from paying a ferry fare to Pangkor island, you must join a club and pay RM10 for a 1 year membership.
Was really annoyed by this. Hey !!!!!!!!! who would want to join a club here to sit ferry? If the developer wants to charge more to recover his cost then please do so, everyone understands this. Please don't treat your customer as fools and cows and dream up such silly schemes. The ferry services is regular but not in closer interval compare to those in the original old Lumut terminal.
Perhaps my dissapointment is due to listening to one of my local friends here for coming here to stay against my instinct of staying in a natural beach front hotel. Somehow I prefers a natural beach fronting hotel where i can lay on a beach chair under a coconut or palm tree shadows dozing off with the strong wind running over me.
All in all this is a good, clean and spacious hotel for large families on budget who wants to pack in more people per room instead of the usual shoe box and do not mind not having a natural beach. But it is not for me, won't be coming back.
