Stayed with friends for one night and shared a room for three. Rooms were clean except there were no windows. Good for city sights and short stay.

Plus point was the location and free outdoor carpark. Very easy to get to the famous Ipoh local fare and restaurants by just walking along the streets surrounding the hotel . Price was very reasonable below $160 per nite for 3 persons in early Feb.

Cheap hotel, average standard. You get what you paid for.
Think our room was beside the storage room. The housekeepers were really noisy.
Water in the shower went down the drain a little slow, causing minor flood.
Hotel location was ok, easy to find, within city.

The French Hotel Ipoh, upon arrival i have upgraded my king size to a family 3 person room, on the top floor. after all the process, finally going up to my room, open the door, it was good, but feel warm. Turing on the AC to max, but feel no air, can't even hear the wine blowing. i called the front desk, they send the maintenance man up, upon checking, he ask his supervisor to have a final check, if its the AC problem, he will definitely change a room for us. After checking he inform us that the AC is not broken, that it just needed time to cold the high temperature on the top floor. He also offer us to take the back the King size room, at the bottom floor, but advised us that the AC is also the same. Overall I've been in the room for more than 20 mins, But i didn't feel any change to the temperature. The supervisor still insist that the AC is not broken, i never come across a Daikin central AC which doesn't not have wine blowing but can cool the room. The Hotel supervisor thibks that we're stupid. Anyway, i have checked out, just refunded me the deposit and the extra upgreading fee. Sad to know that French Hotel Ipoh has so many good comments, that they turn snobbish.

The supervisor even inform us that all hotel AC is like this one!!!! I checked into MU Hotel, no such problems.

Maybe the hotel manager should show other hotels to the supervisor or let him experience some other hotels....

Hotel is in a convenient location in the new town. Walking distance to night market and shopping centre, and even the old town. We stayed here twice within a week. Two nights initially and then another night after with a short trip to the Cameron Highlands in between. The room here for the first 2 nights was fine and everything worked.

The room for the last night was not ok. Shower did not work, Wifi signal very poor and the in-room phone did not work.

One lady at reception was very helpful, the other reception staff we encountered were not. The in-house restaurant looks good but that's all we will say about it. More interesting and authentic places outside the hotel.

Room tip: Convenient location, but overall, an average hotel.

Just spent a night here on the way down to KL from Penang. Check-in was OK, they charged my credit card for a RM100 deposit and gave a complimentary parking voucher to display in my car at the open-air carpark a few blocks away.

Room on the 5th floor looked rather run-down / tired but everything worked well enough. Slept well that one night and went out for breakfast and visited an aunt. We returned to the hotel after 12 noon but they were good enough not to have charged us for the late check-out.

Didn't try their Jose & Deli but walked out for dinner.

Room tip: You have a choice of rooms with / without windows.
