I didn’t read the reviews before booking as I always like to make my own judgement. The location is amazing, rooms are perfect, staff are excellent (really excellent) it’s hard to fault this place apart from one thing which is the food. The food is Inconsistent, yes you can have some good food here but it depends on when and where you eat and what you order which is a real shame. Seems like many people are saying the same, so let’s hope the management listen and make the necessary changes. Don’t let this put you off visiting, just have low expectations on the food and you will have an awesome experience here. Just read this review to the wife to see if she agrees, she added that she was disappointed their were no chocolates on the turndown service as every 5* hotel she has stayed in has always had that, which goes nicely with a cup of tea.. I think she’s just being picky...
I know St Regis read all the reviews, so please do tell your staff that they are amazing and really made the stay enjoyable for us.

So this hotel was a good surprise. We booked last minute and have been to Langkawi many times, but this was our first stay at the St Regis. Overall very happy and will go back. The only let down was service and food in the morning.

We stayed in one of the St Regis suites - bedroom / living room (great for our 7 yr old) and bathroom along with a little outdoor patio area. Beautiful room with everything you need and Housekeeping did a great job.

Pool and beach were good, just be aware that at low tide the beach turns into a mud bath. But that makes for a great beach with little surf for kids at mid-high tide.

Service was generally good but we never saw or met an infamous butler. Transfers to airport were flawless and they have a lounge in domestic.

Food... now this is the big one. The high end restaurant is superb. Great food, wine, view, service, beautiful building etc.

Beach food was great be it lunch or dinner (do this), I loved all the fish they had - fresh and well cooked. The buffet dinner in the orangery is great, especially for kids. You won’t go a la carte when you see what they have. Chefs friendly and helpful.

Which brings us to breakfast... for me this was the odd one out. I feel like it needs an egg or noodle station. You can order but most good places have this now. It just doesn’t fit with the rest of the food offering. So on our last day we ordered in room breakfast (dutifully set our alarms) and someone called up 45 mins before to confirm that we wanted it and to tell us that it wasn’t free. Which kinda spoils it.

Spa is good but needs someone on reception more often. It gets busy so need to book early.

Overall I loved this hotel, it will now be difficult going back to Langkawi as we found another place that we love and my kid loves it too. The good restaurant really was amazing.

This was the third time we have visited this restaurant since it first opened and the food is as good now as it was as it was in the first week it opened. Good fine dining. You need to go just before sunset and have a Sunset Cocktail followed by dinner - a truly special experience. The only down side was they has lost our reservation - lucky we had the confirmation mail with us and they did for us in but it did take a bit of a shine off the evening. So a 4 Star Review this time.
