Walking around this park I was really confused. Not quite sure what the statues resembled or what the purpose of the park was. Ponds half empty and green. Lawn dead. Trees with no leaves. Felt like I was walking around a cemetery. Not worth going out of the way to visit but if in the local area have a look for yourself. Do your research before so you understand the parks purpose. You might find it more interesting and feel more satisfied than me and my partner did.
I walked to Lagenda Park from Eagle Square on a nice afternoon. The park's concept is supposed to embody the many legends and folklore of Langkawi - from which the island's districts derive their names (eg: Mahsuri, Kuah, Kenthut Kechil, Kenthut Besar etc). I can only imagine what a wonderful place this was when it first opened. I was impressed by the beautiful trees lining up the main walking/jogging lane in the park.
However, the rest of the park is now in terrible disrepair; the signages detailing the legends are grimy and obscure, the water pools are teeming with algae and insects breeding, the flags at the CHOGM section were missing, the toilets were not functioning, the ticketing booths were unmanned. One can only wonder when was the last time this park was maintained. At least the jogging/walking pathways were clear of leaves. This is a good place for a jog/walk to get some exercise, but don't expect it to be a cure for sore eyes.
A mystery to me is the fact that some investment has gone into designing and building this park. Why not maintain it and bring in more tourist revenues? It can have great potential with the right operating philosophy but instead it is in a state of disgrace.
It was a sunny day but walking to the Legenda Park was cooling and shaded by the trees. A good stroll slowly and enjoy the greenery.
Basic sea side park, that would be a miss f it wasn't for the fact that so many Horn Bills sit in the trees above your hgead. I have never been so close or seen so many as this spot - enjoy!
a nice park to walk around, or jog - mornings or evenings. some of the exhibits are run down, most probably due to poor or no maintenance. some good picture spots along the waterfront and also the park itself.
within walking distance to Dataran Lang, and also the ferry terminal - which has a small mall, duty free shops and restaurants.
We've barely met with a couple of pictures. We could take thousands of pictures however we liked because there was nobody around to mess with them or photobomb :)
The park itself has some amazing places with specific meaning or story.
We enjoyed our time there in the middle of the nature. The bathroom facilities that we used were not good although.
Remember to bring something for mosquitoes and such.
