I stayed 3 nights in this hotel which is about 10 minutes of walking from Kochi station. However, its location was a bit difficult to locate because it was located not in the main street. I took a taxi to this hotel but the taxi driver drop me in the nearby area. Luckily, I could finally locate this hotel under the help of the staff of the nearby hotel. In fact, there was only a small hotel local in English in the front of the hotel and the guest were mainly Japanese!

This hotel is okay, located 10-15 minutes walk to Hirome market and the undercover shopping street. Parking costs JPY500 but you have to leave the car keys at reception. A very simple breakfast is included in the room price, guess it is better than nothing. There's no wifi in the room, only in the lobby. There's a supermarket within 5-10 minutes walk. Reception staff speak hardly any English.

Budget hotel that is well located (8 minute walk from JR Kochi Station) and on the edge of the night life district. Rooms are alright for a decent stay, the bed a bit on the hard side but otherwise ok. There is no distinction between smoking and non-smoking rooms so I guess smoking is allowed throughout so be prepared to smell some inside the room (bad for those sensitive noses). Try to request for rooms on the north side (facing small river) as the rooms on the south side could face some street restaurants that operate deep into the night and which brings some drinking spree noise to your room even with glass windows shut. The staff is very courteous, they can keep the luggage for you or give you a car parking space (500 yen per day). Breakfast is standard fare, various kinds of bread, butter, jam, chicken soup, hard boiled eggs, coffee, tea, juice on a free flowing basis. Bread toasters abound too. WiFi is good in the lobby area, not so in the rooms.

Room Tip: Higher floors are best and those facing north or towards the river

I'm guessing this hotel was the place to be back when Japanese schoolboys wore those navy-blue short shorts and beanies. It's dated but you can't beat the price, the location (between station and nightlife zone), the friendliness of the front desk staff, and the huge rooms. The only negative is the uninspired breakfast (wonder bread reigns in Japan).
This is the ticket if you're on a budget.
