No 'wow' factor about the food here, it's simple and straight forward. Chicken!

There's limited choice if I'm honest, but I was advised to visit here by some locals I met in Takamatsu earlier in the day.

The menu is in English, so no struggle in ordering, and basically I went for the fried chicken, which was incredibly fatty (nice fatty).

Good setting, and nice atmosphere.

Smokers welcome, so be aware if you're taking children.

Ikkaku is a well known restaurants in Kagawa, serving Hina and Oya chicken. I usually get Hinadori, soup and rice balls. Very oily, so rice ball is great with the oil. If you have chicken craving, there is no better place than Ikkaku ;)

The drumstick here is really good. Could be a bit oily and salty for some people but I personally like salt and pepper better than any other sauces, so it tastes perfect to me. You can order meal sets at a reasonable price. So far all my friends especially non Japanese that visited really liked it. High recommended if you come to visit Takamatsu. They have a few branches in Takamatsu.

We tried both the Hinadori (young chicken) and Oyadori (old chicken). The Hinadori was definitely one of the most succulent chicken leg that we have ever tasted. We recommend sharing the Oyadori, which was much tougher and more chewy, but it gets more flavorful as you keep chewing. Interestingly, the skin tasted like gizzard.

The chicken were rather oily and salty, but most people were enjoying their beers with the chicken.

If you do not wish to queue for so long, you can also order the take-away.

The specialty is "Honetsuki Dori" or roast chicken on the bone. We had one order of the Oyadori and one Hinadori both roast chicken thigh and leg done slightly differently. Also had two orders of Musubi-rice roll incl. soup. Topped off with a draft beer large (874 Y ) and one small (360 Y). Total bill was 3854Yen. Good value.

Take a break from Udon noodles and have Honetsuki Dori - delicious! Beware, it gets busy by about 6:00pm.
