The Hits: This hotel is ideally located if you need to be in the downtown area of Fukuoka and it’s a few minutes’ walk to the major Hakata station which is the central hub for the city’s excellent subway, local rail and intercity express and bullet trains. There’s a great selection of restaurants in the Hakata mall above the station and in the streets surrounding the hotel. Onsite laundry facilities are a plus. The hotel staff are wonderful, the rooms are spotlessly clean and its price point compared to the comparably rated Nikko, ANA, Radisson or Hyatt brands puts it ahead for the more cost conscious. Sleep quality is excellent.
The Misses: I booked a 10-night stay in a “Business Room”. It turns out this room is not designed for a stay longer than 1-2 nights. Not surprisingly for a Japanese hotel, the room is small but even this was tiny by standards I’m used to in Japan. There was nowhere to put my suitcase and the space for clothes consisted of 5 hangers and a single shelf tucked behind the door.
I really liked this hotel but its rooms’ size will be a limiting factor for some guests.More
