Yes the rooms are small as everyone has pointed out, but that aside, this understated little hotel on a side street has quite a bit going for it. The location is really fantastic - less than 5 mins walk from Nihon-Odori station (take Exit 3) so going anywhere in Yokohama by train is convenient. It’s also less than 10 minutes walk to the beautiful Yamashita Park along the bayside and Chinatown. If I’m not mistaken, there’s a direct airport bus from Haneda Airport to Yokohama that stops somewhere near the Hotel New Grand overlooking Yamashita Park, so you could consider a bus from the airport if you’re heading directly to Yokohama. There are also a handful of convenience stories and even grocery shops a little further up around the hotel if you’re ever in need of amenities.
The little rooms are very clean and comfortable. Like typical Japanese hotels, they provide pyjamas and all the basic bath products. But unlike typical Japanese hotels in Tokyo, they provide full-sized ironing boards on request and there’s no two-hour usage rule. I also liked the multi-charging device that’s provided in the room, so you can easily charge your iPhone, Kindle etc. When I was there, staff spoke fluent English and were generally helpful. We could leave our luggage there after we checked out to explore Yokohama. For a place to rest your head at night, this is a really good choice.
