I booked this hotel last minute to spend an extra day in the city. Loved it. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the room was clean and bigger than expected. Hotel was in a wonderful location, blocks from train station with a very nice park right across the street. Would stay here again and definitely recommend for anyone traveling in this area.

This is handy to the railways station and Narita attractions. It makes it easy to spend either a day exploring the temple site there, or to take a train into Tokyo. This way you are close to the airport for return flights. There are many small restaurants around the area and a shopping mall close by. The rooms in the hotel are small, but that is to be expected. They are well appointed and quiet. The restaurant only has a buffet for breakfast but there are other cafes close by if you just want something small. Staff are friendly and helpful. There is a shuttle bus to the airport, but you need to book this.

Booked this hotel due to its proximity to Narita and the local JR and Keisei train stations and price. We travelled from Tokyo main station on JR Sobu line to Funabashi 320 ¥ and then transferred to the Keisei line station there, a few minutes walk for another 620 ¥ to Narita, journey time about an hour. The hotel is 5 minutes walk away down the hill, but there are escalators for both journey directions. There are a few shops at the bottom of the steps. The check in process was easy and you are given your room key and then led to the cash machine where you pay for the room. The room is compact with minimal storage space and reasonable size bathroom. Room has a TV, fridge, small desk, chair , internet and a local mobile phone. The double bed is against the wall on one side which some may find problematic? The bathroom has a bath/shower and a good selection of toothbrush, razors etc if you don't want to unpack your wash bag. Breakfast is available by reception, but we didn't have it. As we had arrived late the previous night there was no spaces on the transport to Narita , only 20 seats are Available on each hourly run 0640 to 0940 which was a bit disappointing as it is one of their selling points. We walked to the Keisei Narita station and took the train for 250¥, took about 15 minutes after waiting 15 minutes at the station.

Note: This is an update on my report from 2013 ... this time in (bad) English. The hotel still receives 4 stars (points).

In 2013 and in 2018 I had early flights back to Germany. Therefore I decided to spend the last night at the Richmond Hotel and save at least 90 minutes of travel time. The hotel has a shuttle service to the airport. And even if the service is booked out, the train station is 10-15 minutes away (walking) and the train only needs 10-15 minutes to the airport (but during high seasons the trains are packed with tourists).

The famous shopping street to the famous Naritasan temple also starts ain front of the train station. Therefore the hotel has a perfect location.

The lobby looks very modern and stylish. The dominating white color make it look a little bit cold and sterile. The rooms have a more comfy color palette.

The Richmond is something I would call a business hotel. By that I mean that the hotel is optimized for business people that stay for the night during a business trip. --> The rooms are functional. They are clean and provide everything you need for the night. The rooms are not big so it can be a little cramped of travel with company. The bathroom is this typical japanese bathroom cubicle. Not big, but in the end all you need.

The hotel has a restaurant that also functions as the hotel bar and the breakfast room. There is nothing fancy to expect. But it is a good place for a last drink before you call it a day. The breakfeast buffet provides japanese and western style elements. You can also mix.

Check-out is very easy. There is a computer terminal in the lobby. Because you pay by credit card during check-in, you only have to return your keycard during check-out and you are ready to go (assumed that you didn't used pay-tv, the mini-bar or booked the dinner on the room).

The price is more than fair if you consider its good location. I will stay here again.
