This shop doesn't look like much from the outside - plain old family house with some Kanji on it for a non-japanese person. But it's worth going inside!
We took the most expensive set they had for 1800Yen per person and we got 9 or 10 sushi each - really exquisite and seen from a european point of view it wasn't expensive at all. Here we would pay double the price for sushi which isn't half as good.
The shop is run by a really skilled old chef and his wife. He told us that he runs this shop since 50 years. They are both very welcoming and helpful even though they don't speak English - I'm able to talk some basic japanese so that helped - still they tried their best. This famliy-run shop welcomes you like an old friend, who comes to visit them - their grandchildren were outside playing or came inside to go into a private room. It's authentic, it's lovely, it's insanely tasty and if you ever happen to be in Hakodate, it is a must-visit.
It is just around the corner of the Oomachi-Station of the Hakodate Cablecar line 5.
