Plenty of English explanation of Ainu as well as other northern peoples. Outstanding collection of clothing, tools, ceremonial objects. If you are interested in anthropology or history, go.

nicely presented, nice range of items, the most in Japan in one place i believe. Not much in English at all. There were interpreters for different languages there learning more about the exhibits so maybe join a tour in your language?

We visited this museum on a frigid day in late December, in part because it was too cold to do anything else. But we were glad we stopped by--it offers a very nice introduction to Ainu culture with a nice display of artifacts. We especially enjoyed the display of textiles. The information in Japanese is much better than the abbreviated English titles and there's also a variety of short videos on the Ainu but only in Japanese. The staff is very kind and there's a heated room with a drink machine, which was a nice place to rest.

Reflective of the Ainu (indigenous people of Hokkaido). The venue was small but well worth it. The staff was super friendly.

This is not a huge museum, but it does provide a good introduction to the lifestyle and history of the local indigenous people of Hokkaido, the Ainu. We stumbled this place while wandering around the area and were happy we found it.
