Chitose Airport is clean, spacious, has all the amenities you could ever need and great food.

The observation deck was cool.

As international airports go, New Chitose is top tier, or at least close. It's new, and it has plenty of open space inside that avoids that claustrophobic feel you get at some terminals. There are plenty of places to eat, lounge and shop. And, the restrooms are clean. I don't think it measures up to Incheon and it's lounging/relaxing areas, but it's very comfortable for the international traveler.

I was born in chitose city sense 1958. Our home was the airport between across the river. My dad was working at chitose airport, not new.....I used this air port and flyers so many times, but today’s new chitose airport was nothing like a any other airport in the world,it very proud.why?.....because the what we need, what we doing? Solution in here.the air port and Taxi the main floor, subfloor is train, bus, rental the car.then 2nd floor is the Many Restaurants and gift shop,also3rd floor is the movie theater and massage place and place to stay, kind temporarily hotel,it cool! Everybody stay in one room, there is a 100 of single recliner with TV and flight info. Not expensive, one night about $50.00 including the hot spring (public bath)watching over the air plains! And breakfast,all-you-can-eat!!! It wonderful airport! I stayed every time back to Hokkaido.the last time I was stayed 3day to enjoying food and relaxing. Also public lockers? Yes! Big and small. But bathroom is super clean, but so many switches, just confused, they splay you and blow you and If you need normally. No big deal.

This observation deck has a very nice view of the runway so you can see jets both landing and taking off. There were several real 'fans' of aircraft there with cameras set-up to take pictures.
