This hotel is very reasonably priced for what you get. It has its own mineral spring baths. Most rooms have killer views of the lake. The rooms are fair sized for Japan and the beds are comfortable, though the bathrooms are tiny. Sure it could do with a bit of a refurbishment and remove a bit of staleness. The free shuttle to the station could also bring you from the station. The western breakfast had all the right foods with great views from the restaurent just not really served hot enough. This hotel is close to Matsue's main attractions and if it got everything right would be 5 star.

We spent one night in this hotel that had been booked for us by our travel agency in Paris. It is hard to find the words to explain how disappointed we were. The room was tiny and gloomy with just one window. The lampshades were covered with rings and grime, carpet tiles floor were not glued and disjointed, the chairs were stained. The pillows were extremely hard and it was impossible to change. The staff tried to help us as best he could, but as none of the staff spoke English it was still very difficult. We would really not recommend this hotel to any non japanese speaking person.

Even by Japanese standards, the rooms were small. We reserved two rooms for our family, and the staff would not accommodate us to have the rooms on the same floor. Great location: on the lake and next door to a shrine; a bathhouse (onsen) on the 3rd floor; and a convenience store reachable through the annex lobby. However, overall we were disappointed with the accommodations and did not spend a sufficiently restful night there. Parking was also limited, and we didn't appreciate the requirement that we leave our car key with the front desk (presumably, so they could move cars around, as necessary.)
