We only stayed here one night but would liked to have stayed at least a couple of days. The hotel is situated near a wonderful area of shopping, museums and dining establishments. The rooms are large and comfortable. Our first room smelled of cigarette smoke and we were immediately moved to another room. People who smoke in non-smoking hotels should be fined severely in my view. The hotel has two restaurants plus the breakfast buffet. My wife and I went to the Japanese restaurant while the rest of our group went to the French restaurant. We subscribe to the "When in Rome" theory and were not disappointed. We had the set menu that started with sashimi and some other appetizers and ended with beef. It was all delicious, and the beef was the most tender and tasteful that we can ever recall eating, and we've eaten a lot of beef in a lot of restaurants. Both the hotel for its location and service and the Japanese restaurant for its food are highly recommended.

This hotel is very comfortable. The rooms are incredibly spacious and full of character. Our bathroom is large and nicely-appointed. It is located on the edge of the historic Bokan district. A late afternoon/ evening walk was beautiful. The old buildings are well preserved.

I said the morning of our travel to Kurashaki, that no hotel would have large rooms due to Japan being crowded. This seemed to reflect on the compact rooms we had occupied during our three previous stays on this trip.

All that changed here, because we had a huge room, with grand views, great air conditioning, and a fine bar and restaurant on the ground floor.

This was the most comfortable, and most western-styled hotel we found on this trip.

Kusrashaki is off the normal tourist map, or I guess so, as we only saw one other western couple on our walks in the surrounding area. But the area has many fine places to eat and visit, and a walk along the canal at dusk is not to be missed.

The bar is great, and serves a good range of cocktails and whiskies.

This is an excellent boutique hotel downtown Kurashiki a few minutes on foot from the station and at one end of the histrical area. The room was ample (by any standard9 and perfectly appointed. Service outstanding as usual in Japan. My only concern was the buffet breakfast, which was good, but didn't fare on a par with the quality of the lodging.

Nice hotel, excellent location near the historical area where most museums and restaurants are located.
Very good breakfast including traditional Japanese and Chinese as well as western favorites.
Their restaurant is also quite good and I had a nice dinner.
Very comfortable room, except for the temperature that is kept very warm.
Excellent bathroom.
Pleasant staff fighting against their poor English.
